What's in my travel make up bag?

I'm a serial over-packer & it was getting to a stage where it was just becoming ridiculous. I used to be that person who took a suitcase crammed full of stuff just for a few days away but I'm determined to not be that person anymore!

Base wise I think I keep it very simple. I do love my healthy mix foundation but I am on the lookout for something different. If any of you have tried Illamasqua's light liquid foundation please let me know, I think that might be my next foundation purchase. Benefit concealers are my current favourites and I always like to set my make up with a light dusting of translucent powder.

Considering blush is my absolute make up love, I think I've done well narrowing it down to just three to take away with me. Hippy Shake from Dainty Doll looks beautiful lightly dusted over any pink blush, Illamasqua Promise cream blush is still my absolute favourite & The Body Shop cool dusk trio is just too pretty not to love!

Having used my Urban Decay Naked Palette every single day over the past couple of weeks I'm really enjoying just doing a simple eye liner look at the moment. It took me a little while to get used to the Eyes Lips Face cream liner but now I absolutely love it but I do have to prime my eyes first to ensure it'll last a decent amount of time. I'm not a huge brow person but I do like to keep them looking as tidy as possible when the rest of my make up is quite simple.

I've kept it super simple with my lip products too. I've stuck to lipsticks that I know won't be at all drying and are just easy to wear, no faffing around here! In all honesty I'll probably be sticking to just lip balms because it's so cold here at the moment.

Eyes Lips Face brushes are among my favourites because they're such good quality and so inexpensive. I've decided to bring 2 powder brushes; one for foundation & one for blush, a complexion brush for loose powder and a small angled brush for cream eyeliner.

I think I kept it pretty basic and I wouldn't say I went too overboard! What do you think? What would you take on a short trip away?
xoxo

  2. Ha! there is quiet alot there! but i think i would take probably the same amount.. i live by better to take too much than not enough! and its the worst getting somewhere and wanting something you left at home! i deem myself a make up buff, but i'm seeing a brand i have never seen before elf???? i must must check it out! its obviously good as you a lot of it! :) have a lovely time away!

  3. i'm an over packer as well. I always make sure I have my make up forever foundation, mascara, and a lip gloss, but i always tend to pack way more just in case ;)

  4. I'd say that's a crazy amount - but rather too much that too little! I usually take concealer, foundation, a natural looking blush, powder, mascara, 'brow filler and a couple of lippies :) Writing it out it seems so much more than it really is!

  5. I'm so jealous of this - I'm a complete make up dunce! literally for me it's eyeliner, mascara, foundation and lipbalm. i'm so boring haha
really want all of your blushes! xxx

  6. I'm the same as you! Pack waaaay too much.
I just don't want the feeling of going away and thinking 'Oh I wish I brought that'
If I was going away I think I'd end up packing way to many lip products - Just incase! hehe xx

  7. You've done well narrowing it down if you have that over-packing problem! When I go away I always take foundation, concealer, powder, blush, eyeliner, one eyeshadow duo and mascara. I'm pretty simple! But then, I'm only just starting to get into make-up properly really. I do always carry eyeliner, concealer and lipgloss in my handbag so that goes everywhere with me anyway :) x

  9. I would take a freakin massive suitcase. I suck at packing and always think 'oh but what if I want to wear this' or 'but this eyeliner goes with that outfit'.

I think you've been particularly restrained with the blush! But then some items are easier to cut down than others - for example I would only take one mascara, but blush is where I fall down. When I go home at Christmas I'll probably end up taking at least five, and then probably not leave the house all week...

I've heard good things about Lancome Teint Miracle. I know this doesn't help with what the Illamasqua one's like but just thought I'd put it out there :D

  10. I haven't really travelled anywhere recently but I expect i'd take way too much as I always think I might need things that I really don't! I'm going to end up taking so much with me when I move to uni!

  11. That's a lot of makeup for travel! I'm in the same boat as you, though. Do you find yourself just packing extra items 'just in case?'

  12. I personally don't think you packed too much at all...but that's not saying much coming from me since I've been known to overpack as well :) lol

  13. You made me wanna buy the Bourjois Healthy Mix and I want to thank you 'cause I love it! I bought the concealer too and it's amazing!!
I haven't travel for a long time but when I do, I like to take my foundation and concealer, my Rimmel eyebrow pencil, a mascara, an eyeliner, two blushes and a lipstick. :D

  14. I love your makeup pictures, they're always so clean and fresh and pretty :-)
I have tried the Illamasqua light foundation (new formula), it's a lovely product but it didn't have enough coverage for my liking. It's sheer and slightly dewy and it smells good. I think 51 was my match in Healthy Mix and I wear 133 in Illamasqua's foundation, which is a neutral tone with very light yellow undertones - in case that helps.

  17. I'm the worst at packing! I always think well if this happens then I'll need this and this and this! haha Think you've done very well! I think I'd probably throw in some more eyeshadows though :) xxx

  18. @MissJodieElizabeth - Haha YES! It's not the nicest smell in the world!
@Alyse - Definitely! Those 'well, what is this happens...' thoughts creep in haha
@Musing on Beauty - Ahh thank you so much, that helped a lot! I'm 51 in healthy mix too and was thinking of going for 133 in Illamasqua! Thank youuuu! Glad you like promise, it's so pretty!

Thank you for your comments lovelies <3

  19. wow, how do you carry it all?! hehe :) I always take one of each item and do without some if I can. I maybe just take powder, lip balm, eyeliner, mascara and an eyeshadow.... I can't stand carrying stuff around when I go away! x
