MAC Cham Pale.

This week I finally caved in and bought my very first MAC make up items! I've been watching the collections come and go over the past year and although I thought they were all pretty, none of them appealed to me enough to purchase anything, that is of course until Cham Pale came a long. I could quite easily have bought pretty much the entire collection but I decided to be restrained and pick out the two products I wanted the most and I'm not disappointed in either of them.

Paint pots have intrigued me for a while because I have a lot of difficulty getting my eye make up to stay put throughout the day and I liked the idea of the paint pots going on creamy and then drying so they (hopefully) won't budge. As soon as I saw Vintage Selection I knew that I had to have it. I'm not big into eye make up as you all know, but I do love the brightening effect that neutral colours can give and this colour would be the perfect base for so many eyeshadows.

It's described by MAC as a frosted dirty peach and I'd say that's a pretty accurate description. I think a few bloggers have said how similar it is to Urban Decay's Sin eyeshadow and they're so right, the combination of the two is gorgeous and so easy to do! I love everything about this, maybe it's the 'first MAC item excitement' but I think it's a beautiful product from the colour to the formula to the packaging!

The second product I knew I wanted as soon as I saw it was one of the special reserve highlight powders. Initially the £20.50 price tag put me off but in the end I couldn't resist, I mean look how pretty that is! I went for the shade Rose Ole which is a light pink with gold shimmer and I love it. As my skin gets drier I find myself lusting over that dewy luminous look more & more and this product is going to be perfect for that.

I think I'm starting to see why so many people love MAC products and although I'm determined not to be tempted by all of the future collections, I have a feeling more products will find their way into my collection this year.

Did you get anything from Cham Pale? What was your very first MAC make up item?
xoxo

  1. I can't remember what my very very first mac item was, but Vintage Selection was the only item I got from this collection. It's gorgeous, although I do find it to be a little flaky after 6 hours or so. I'm going to try it with Sin now, definitely.

  3. I'm the same - have no mac products! I'm tempted but there are such good cheap alternatives!
I get the feeling though that everyone should own a mac product!! x

  4. Can't wait to see how the highlight powder looks on!
I've only ever tried the mascaras and concealers - lovely as they were, I just can't justify spending that amount of money when I've found better for much cheaper. xxx

  7. they look lovely!
i was VERY tempted by the quad, but at £33 i'd rather make my own quad up for only a few pounds more - so far i have a smashed (well done mac) vanilla and expensive pink :)
i've noticed the VAT has bumped up mac prices, on quite a few items even by £1 (which is quite a lot given the increase was 2.5%)

one of my very first mac purchases was studio sculpt foundation, which i've got through three tubes of!

recently i've spent a bit too much on mac :\ which isn't good, especially as i'm buying an iphone next week lol

ahh well you only live once :)

  9. I saw your MAC purchase on Twitter and wanted to ask if you were going to do a review, but thought it might be a bit pushy! So glad you did though haha :)
I'm really intrigued by these products, I hadn't heard of them (and don't have any MAC in fact) but I especially want to try out Vintage Selection!

  12. I passed on the Champale collection, simply because the only thing i liked was the highlight powder that you got, but i wouldnt use it really often. And my very first MAC makeup item was Ruby Woo lipstick. Still one of my favourites!

  13. I've resisted Cham Pale (so far!)but the more haul posts I see the more I'm tempted - especially by Rose Ole.

  14. Hey sweetie, Ive been looking at the cham pale collection too and I am really keen to purchase some of the items, especially the Kohl pencil in 'I get no Kick' and some of the paint pots. That paint pot you brought is beautiful, would it be possible if you could swatch it?

I brought my first MAC products a few months ago and I have to say it was money well spent. I purchased my first MAC foundation - Pro Longwear foundation, MAC concealer - Pro longwear concealer, MAC compact powder - Mineralize skinfinish natural, MAC blusher - Mineralize blush, and finally a lipglass.

I have to say that I have enjoyed using each and everyone of these products and it has opened my eyes to how good MAC cosmetics actually are :)
I will, in the next few weeks, be purchasing some more goodies from them :)

Sorry about the long post xxx

  16. yay! I'm so happy you did this post :) The paint pot looks beautiful, but I have to admit the powder reminds me abit of crumpled skin (!) it's still very pretty though ;D I must say, I've always admired you for your amazing photography, your photos are always so clear and the lighting is always beautiful! Anywho, sorry for that essay of a comment! xoxo

  18. I love MAC, I used to spend so much money on it even though I didn't need it just because I love it. Thankfully I've come to my senses now, and now just use up what I've got/buy what I need! It's addicting. Cham Pale is calling to me!

  20. *excited scream for mac!* i've only bought a few (carefully chosen) things from them, but i have loved every.single.one.

on another note, i absolutely love your blog jennie. you have the same skin tone as me so everything is always very relevant. i also feel like what you say about each product is a completely unbiased review, so i take good notice of what you say. and i LOVE that you post such high quality photos because i like a good nosey at the products, haha. keep doing what you're doing lovely <3 elle x

  22. oo I don't dare check out the new collections :$ love the look of the paint pot though.
My first MAC purchase was foundation & powder. A waste of money as I don't use either! Much prefer their blushes/lip products & eye shadows.

    @Charli - I think so too!
@G - Aww no, you can request anything you want! :)
@Bubbliecheeks - I definitely will! I'll try and include it in a make up look this week :)

  26. I didn't get anything from this collection but I did from Stylishly Yours, I did a blog on it today. The first Mac item I bought was a blush, Well Dressed I think it was! And I wanted to get an eyeshadow brush but I was so rushed in the store because it was so busy I accidentally bought a concealer brush which was rubbish as I don't even wear concealer :/
