What I Wore: Late to the jeggings party!

So this was the week that Jennie discovered jeggings! I can’t even claim to be fashionably late to the jeggings party because to be honest, I think I missed the trend completely! Has it been and gone? I think so but I’m not one to follow the trends so I guess it doesn’t really matter! For example, I have no idea what’s ‘in’ this season! I am a fashion trend failure. I apologise!

Shirt: George at Asda - £8
Jeggings: George at Asda - £12.50
Cardigan: Boohoo - £8ish?
Nail Polish: Essie Mint Candy Apple

These aren’t technically jeggings, they’re called super skinny jeans and to be perfectly honest I never though I would own a pair of those. It’s clear to see that I’m not slim and I’m perfectly okay with that, although I did smile to myself in the fitting room when I found that a size 14 in super skinny jeans is actually a little too big. That doesn’t happen, ever. I’m sure it’s just generous sizing, I know in my head that vanity sizing is rife, but I’m not going to lie and say that it didn’t make me feel good about myself. Over the past couple of months I’ve actually put on about 7 pounds so it’s good to know I’m not as big as my mind seems to think I am. I’m not usually a sucker for good marketing but it got me this time! We all need a confidence boost every now and again though, right?!

This shirt is actually supposed to be a nightshirt but it’s the perfect length for me to wear with leggings or my new jeggings! Don’t worry your eyes are safe from being thoroughly offended by my thighs! I’m a walking advert for George today! I’m even wearing my new George disc earrings I showed in this post although my hair is doing a super good job of hiding them.

I have no explanation as to what I’m doing in the picture on the right. I look kind of angry for some reason and posing like a superhero would as they’re just about to fly off to do something important. I wasn’t angry. I’m definitely not a superhero. And sadly I can’t fly. But I wish I could!

Base: MAC Face & Body foundation, Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection concealer & Beauty Without Cruelty loose translucent powder.
Eyes: MAC Vintage Selection Paint Pot, The Body Shop eye trio & Collection 2000 Big Fake Mascara.
Cheeks: NARS Douceur powder blush.
Lips: MAC Viva Glam Gaga lipstick & Australis lambada lipgloss.
Nails: Essie Mint Candy Apple nail polish.

Make up & beauty wise there are a few products I’ve absolutely loved over the past couple of weeks! Oilatum moisturiser has saved my skin & I think I love it a little bit more than any of my creams from Neal’s Yard because my skin has been super dry recently and this has really soothed it and calmed it down.

A second new love is Face & Body foundation from MAC and I have this in the shade C1. I have a huge thank you to give to Lucy for offering to send me her unwanted bottle because I probably would have put off purchasing a bottle for ages because it’s quite pricey. I do find myself using quite a lot of this every time I apply it, as an example when I’m using Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation I’ll only need to use one pump, but I’d say with the Face & Body I use the equivalent of 2 or sometimes 3 pumps. You get 120ml of product in a bottle though so that doesn't matter too much to me! It’s a sheer foundation but it is buildable and it has a beautiful dewy finish that seems to make my concealer apply much better and my face never looks cakey which is brilliant. Photographs tend make my skin look better than it really is, I’m not completely confident with the way my skin looks so if you feel the same, don’t be put off by all reviews of Face & Body being super sheer. If you want to try it, I’d definitely recommend it!

NARS Douceur is my new favourite blusher. I’ve mentioned before that this wouldn’t have been a colour that I would have picked out for myself but when I won Karleigh’s giveaway I was so happy to receive this because it’s gorgeous and I haven’t worn another blush all week which is rare for me! It just goes with every single look & it gives you that healthy glow that I always crave!

On a side note, how big do my cheekbones look when I pin my fringe back?! Woah! Also I’m trying to learn to embrace my larger than average forehead. So far I’m not keen but I must say it’s nice not having hair in my eyes all the time!

Have you recently started wearing something you never thought would suit you? I was never a jeans person until now! They won't be replacing my pretty dress addiction but sometimes they're more practical!
xoxo

  3. That shirt is very pretty! I would never have known it was a nightshirt. I have a large forehead too, though I'm too scared to pin my fringe back incase the combination of massive-forehead and pale-skin actually blinds people xx

  7. I think you look gorgeous with your fringe back, I don't know what your going on about. That blusher really does suit you, I've wish my pocket and my partner would approve of me getting it. Haha.
I can't believe those jeggings were only £12.50. I may have to get myself down to Asda, I only live a 10 minute walk away from one.
I know I keep saying it, but I love your blog!

  9. i've been embracing these 'super skinny' jean type things lately too. you look smaller than a 14?! no ones ever going to be offended by your thighs either, silly! i'm really tempted by face and body but i'm worried about it being too sheer/colour being too dark! what shade are you in other foundations? x

I always find nice PJ tops and wear them in the day time. Then I end up wearing normal tops to bed. I always have been backwards... anyway you look fabulous!

  19. I can't believe thats a night shirt! It looks really good! Very cute outfit :)

I'm a Mac face and body foundation lover too! It feels quite light which is a nice change to thick cakey foundations. It makes your skin look really nice, you look radiant :)

  20. When jeggings first came out I swore I'd never wear them...then a month or so ago I caved and tried a pair on...and now it's pretty much all I wear! I do find I need to wash them more regularly then jeans to keep them tight though.

That shirt is lovely, as is your makeup. I don't use the face and body on myself as I find it really heavy, in fact I only ever use mineral foundation on myself now, my skin likes it bette, but I pretty much always use MAC face and body on models at shoot, it give a fantastic, clean coverage.

  21. So many things I want to say! Firstly, I also love leggings. Secondly, I now feel like I need Essie Mint Candy Apple thanks to how lovely the color looks on you. Thirdly, I love that lip combo on you. And lastly, I also have a large forehead (although yours honestly doesn't look abnormally big to me at all) and I know how it feels! I always feel obligated to have some sort of bang/fringe even if I don't want to :-/ xx

  22. Gaga looks amazing on you! I'm rather jealous as I just can't carry it off which makes me a bit sad! And I love jeggins/leggings, anything with a stretchy waistband is A-OK in my book (yep I just said A-OK) xxx

  24. You look gorgeous! I love fitting into something a size smaller than I usually wear too. Although, I've gotta say you have an amazing figure and you look much smaller than a 14! I really love the colour of your lipstick too - think I definitely need to by that colour now. So pretty xx

  26. You look great in jeggings, you should definitely wear them more often! I own a pair (and as someone who doesn't wear jeans or even trousers, that's kind of strange) - they're so comfy though and good for the rare occasions I need trousers. However I think they make me look like I'm all hips. Not so on you though! Gorgeous.
