March GlossyBox: The Harrods Edition.

I have been intrigued about this months Glossy Box ♦ ever since I saw the little mystery card in last months box and I haven't been disappointed. Teaming up with Harrods to produce this luxury box has, in my opinion, been really successful and I'm really quite impressed with the items I received.
I'll start with the item I'm least impressed with and that is a sample of Valentina perfume by Valentino. This really isn't my kind of scent at all, it's very floral and just a bit too strong but I'm sure I will find someone to pass this on to who will really appreciate it. Having seen some other boxes, there are other perfume samples in there that I would have loved to try but that's the nature of beauty boxes, the contents are always a surprise! The 100ml bottle of Valentina costs £71.

The next item is a bath and shower gel by Molton Brown & these are the kind of samples I always like receiving because I know they'll get used. I really like the fresh & fruity scent and it claims to soften, tone and strengthen the skin. Whether it will do all of that I'm not sure, but I'm looking forward to giving this a try! The full size, 300ml, retails for £18 so it's definitely a luxury shower gel & would make a lovely treat or present for someone.

Next is a product from Clarins which is a brand I really adore so I was excited to see the Extra Firming Body Cream in my box! This is another product that will definitely be used up super quickly and I'm quite excited to see if I see any results from using this. The full size retails for £39.50.

The next product is one that my mama has already claimed for herself and I'm hoping she doesn't fall in love with it because the full size is super expensive! The Skin Signature anti-ageing moisturising cream from SKII claims to help re-condition the skin and improve its resilience while leaving a smooth and radiant complexion. I know my mama is really looking forward to giving the moisturiser a go and the full size, 80g, retails for a whopping £127!

The little added extra product this month is a sachet of the Shu Uemura Cleansing Beauty oil and this is definitely one of the products I'm most looking forward to trying. This is one of those multi-purpose products that I adore acting as a make up remover, an eye make up remover and a cleanser all in one. It promises to leave the skin feeling soft and importantly, not greasy or left with an oily film. I have never used a product like this before but I have wanted to for a really long time so I'm really pleased to have got a sample, even if it's only a small sachet. The full size 150ml retails for £28.

Lastly, I have saved the product I'm most excited about, we have a sample of the Lancome Hypnose Drama Mascara. Other than one mascara from MAC I have never really used a 'high end' mascara purely because they seem so expensive for a product you will have to throw away after just a few months so I'm really looking forward to trying this out, just to see if it's worth the money. It promises to give instant full bodied volume so we shall see! The full size retails for £21.

Overall I'm very impressed with this months GlossyBox. I know the products vary quite a lot this month with some receiving a lipstick from Burberry, foundation samples and different skincare items. Given the choice I would have loved to try out the YSL Forever Youth Liberator Serum but honestly, I can't really complain at all about the range of products I was lucky enough to receive.

Are you subscribed to GlossyBox? Which items did you receive this month?
xoxo

  8. I absolutely loved this month's Glossybox, like you, I got Molton Brown and Clarins which was perfect as love Molton Brown and have been eager to try Clarins (definitely have some areas that need firming!). I got the YSL serum in my box and it is quite nice to use as a base before make-up and smells gorgeous :-) I'm jealous you got the Hypnose drama - I've been toying with trying that mascara so looking forward to hearing your thoughts on it!

  9. I wasn't so impressed with the Molton Brown, it doesn't really feel very Harrods to me when I can buy it from my local Tesco... I much preferred the Rituals shower gel a couple of months ago.

The Lancome mascara looks great, I'm slightly jealous!

  14. Wasn't this meant to be the mystery box? I can't help but think that these beauty boxes are such a waste of money seriously! You can pick samples up for free! But I'm pleased you like it!

    1. I think that very much depends where you live. There is no way I would ever be able to get the SK-II moisturiser sample anywhere in Derbyshire. I also don't think they would give that out for free considering the full size, which isn't huge, costs over £100.

These boxes are a sample service, I think a lot of people forget that which is why they are disappointed each month. I've seen a few people do an experiment where they take a day & visit department stores to see how many free samples they can get without purchasing anything and from what I've seen, they haven't managed to get many and if they have they tend to just be sachets. I think when you take beauty boxes for what they are, and you have a real interest in trying out a range of products each month, they they are wonderful.

      They're definitely not for everyone!

  19. I see what you're saying about the point of sample boxes but I just don't think glossybox have got it right yet, especially not in comparison to ones like carmine which seem to have a much higher number of positive reviews. I understand that nobody can please everybody but I just don't think this box represents harrods in any way, it was just a marketing ploy, I could get most of these products in boots and the like, I'd have thought harrods should be products which are either exclusive to harrods or started off exclusively to harrods... But then I do think we expect a lot for £10.... But on the same rule why call it the harrods box if you can't deliver the goods... Having said all that if I was subbed and they had just included a sample of victor and rolf spicebomb I'd have been one happy lady!!

    1. These are all very high end samples to me, all of the boots' stores in my local area, say within an hours drive, don't stock much more than the basics. I'd have to go somewhere like John Lewis to have any hope of finding samples like these and in my experience, they don't give them out for free willy nilly!

Of course marketing plays a huge part in every beauty box, I just think that some often loose sight of what these boxes really are. Each box will suit a person differently, I for example, haven't really liked any of the Carmine boxes I have seen reviews on. From what I have seen they include more make up products, which generally, always seem to excite people more. I adore skincare so this suits me perfectly. I think glossybox gets a lot of stick, I honestly don't understand why people stay subscribed when every month they go on a huge rant about how rubbish it is. I really do think the people who run the social media sites are absolute saints, I don't know how they cope with the abuse, I'd hate it!

Perhaps I'm just easy to please. Of course there have been products I haven't been excited about but I always find someone to pass them on to & they end up being loved. I know my mama & grandparents are always pleased to receive a little something in the post :) xo
