MAC Creme Cup Lipstick.

MAC Creme Cup Lipstick. (£14)
Creme Cup lipstick from MAC is one of those cult favourites, almost everyone seems to have it and those that do all seem to absolutely adore it. It has a cremesheen formulation which is one of the most popular promising a creamy and easy application, the MAC website describes the shade as a light blue pink and those were the exact things I was looking for in a lipstick at the time I purchased it. I was expecting something that would really impress me, perhaps my expectations were a little too high, I mean it is only a lipstick after all, but I can't help but feel a bit disappointed or at least a little underwhelmed by this shade.

It is worth pointing out that although I am quite fair, I'm also very yellow toned and on my complexion Creme Cup looks a lot warmer in tone than I was expecting and also a lot more nude; in fact on my lips it's quite a way off from the blue toned pink shade described by MAC. It just goes to show how much a colour can vary on different skin tones! Although I was super disappointed with this at first, I have actually grown to quite like how it looks although I would prefer it to be a little more pink because quite a lot of the time I feel it slightly washes me out. The formulation is nice but I'm not in love with it and I much prefer the Lustre formulations from MAC which feel much creamier, glossier and almost lighter on my lips for some reason.

As always the vanilla scent of MAC lipsticks never fails to impress and the packaging is super sleek and lovely. Creme Cup is a very safe everyday lipstick shade and although I'm not totally head over heels in love with it, I am glad that I have it in my collection and I do think it's a colour that would suit a lot of different people. A major downside for me is that MAC lipsticks are now a whopping £14, which I must say, I think is a little steep. I'm happy to invest a few extra pennies in a lipstick that's a unique colour but I don't think I would be so willing to part with £14 for this shade again. I really think highstreet brands have some wonderful lipsticks in their collections, my favourite highstreet light pinky nudes come from brands like Revlon, their ColorBurst lipstick line is fabulous and Beehive from 17 cosmetics is a really beautiful shade with a super creamy formula for under £5.

Have you ever tried Creme Cup before?
What is your all time favourite MAC lipstick shade? I'm interested in trying out a few more!
And if you're not into MAC, what is your favourite lipstick from any other brand?

xoxo

  1. I have actually never owned a Mac lipstick somehow, in fact lipstick and gloss in general are a massive gap in my tiny makeup collection - whenever I see you post on it I always want to run out and purchase a few :-)

I like how this shade looks on you!

    1. It's definitely one of those shades that's not difficult to find in another brand which is good, it's nice to have some more affordable options! xo

  5. Creme Cup is one of the only MAC lipsticks I have and I think its pretty 'meh' as well. Certainly not worth the price tag. And I think I must be the only person in the world who doesn't like the smell! They don't smell of vanilla to me, they smell like the inside of new cars which I HATE! xx

  6. I haven't tried any Mac lippies before but Creme Cup was one of those I really wanted to try because of the cult following behind it but after reading this post I think I'll have to pass. If you a much paler girl than me finds that it washes you out well a tanned/olive me will just have to say no. I just don't think it'll look right. So thanks Jennie for saving me some serious moolah. :)

My all time favourite lipstick is one from 17 Mirrorshine range in Belle. Oh how I love that lipstick so much. :)

  7. I have this shade and I really like it. However, I do think its a bit ridiculous that MAC have put up their prices yet again. I'm pretty sure they did it just before xmas.

    1. I know, I thought £13.50 was a high enough price but at this rate they'll be £15 soon which is crazy! xo

  8. £14!!!!!!!! That is absolutely insane. When I first bought a lippy from MAC it was only £12.50 and that was like 2 or 3 years ago, jesus blimmin' christ!!

    Anyhooo, aside from that:P

This colour actually really suits you, I have it myself and find its such a lovely warm colour, lovely for day to day wear.

  11. This has been on my wishlist for an age, but seems to be one of those products I just never actually get around to buying. I'm always a little bit dubious about nudes, as they tend to look great on other people, but with me, it's a very fine line between a pretty shade and corpse lips. This one actually looks pinker on you than I was expecting, but maybe it's just the light in the photos - my lips never look the colour they actually are (or that I'm wearing) in photos.
    It really suits you though!

    1. It's fairly pink but definitely more nude on my complexion. I always try to get the colour balance in photos as accurate as possible. xo

  12. Think this is a lovely colour but agree that there are ones just as nice a lot cheaper. Sounds nice with the vanilla scent though!

I'd looking for a lipstick from MAC which's not drying out the lips.

'cause we can get 6 old cases to exchange for one lipstick.

so i'm choosing which one to get..

  18. This looks gorgeous on you! I used to own this, but swapped it on MakeupAlley. I'm into organic/natural lipsticks and lipglosses, but I just bought a MAC lipstick in Impressive. A pinky plum for autumn and I think it's just okay. Haven't found a brand or colour that I just love yet! I hope soon :)
