What I Wore: Lovestruck.

Dress: Lovestruck.♦ Cosy Grey Cardigan: Matalan. Black Cardigan: H&M
Boots: Tribeca Shoes.♦ Nail Polish: Beauty UK Fuchsia. Bracelet: Pandora. Lipstick: Rimmel Nude Pink.

This is the dress that I've been using as a marker for my first weightloss goal, when I received it a few weeks ago I could only just about do the buttons up and now it fits a lot more comfortably, which I'm absolutely over the moon about! Don't get me wrong, I obviously don't look as beautiful in it as the model on the website but I'm currently very happy. Next on my list of areas to work on are my legs!

I love the sweet all over print and the white collar detailing of this dress, it's the perfect little dress for the beginning of autumn. Lovestruck is such a cute brand, I'm sure you'll find something you fall in love with on their website, I've got my eye on the Georgia top in cream! I'm all set for Autumn with these boots from Tribeca! I love them so much, they are super comfortable and I love the slight edgy feel of them because they're that little bit different to what I normally go for!

I hope you're all having a wonderful Sunday. I'm currently tucked up with a huge mug of tea & a bowl of porridge & fruit preparing to tackle another essay. Right now it feels like I'm a constant essay writing machine, it's not fun at all, but I'm sure it'll all be worth it in the end!

Nails: Killer Colours Quicksand.

Killer Colours Quicksand♦ £9.
This kind of murky mink shade has been popular during Autumn & Winter for many years now and I fell in love with the Killer Colours nail polish in the shade Quicksand as soon as I saw it. I always see this kind of nail colour on other girls and I think it looks super chic so I really wanted to love it but I don't think I like it against my skin tone. It looks beautiful in the bottle and it translates really well on to the nails, it's pigmented and the formula is neither too thick or too thin. This is one coat, but I would say it would look about a million times better with two. It dries super fast which is always a bonus, I just wish I liked this colour more against my skin tone.

Are you a fan of these kinds of colours on your nails?

Skincare: REN Resurfacing AHA Concentrate.

REN Resurfacing AHA Concentrate♦ £30. 30ml.
I had been hearing more and more about the wonder of chemical exfoliants in the bloggersphere and although at first I was a bit 'ooh I'm not sure I like the sound of a product like that' I'm so happy I got the opportunity to give one a try. I've been using the REN Resurfacing AHA Concentrate on a regular basis for a little while now and this little bottle of wonder is a skin care miracle, it really is.

I'm far from being a skin care expert but in a nutshell, the combination of all the acids within this product promote skin cell turnover, gently exfoliating the skin and in return this leaves your skin looking more radiant, even and smooth. If I were to describe the results I've had from this in one word, that word would be wow. Stupidly I didn't take detailed photographs before and after using this because I wasn't expecting to notice such a huge difference, but I'm going to have a dig around my recent photographs and see if I can find any that highlight the difference!

I believe there are two ways you can use this; you can either use it every night after cleansing for a week and then take a 2 week break or you can use it every other night, again on freshly cleansed skin. I've been using it pretty much every other night, so around 3 to 4 times per week, applying one pipette of product to my face & neck and I began to notice results quite quickly.

Before I had a lot of redness, particularly on my cheeks, forehead and chin which I've had ever since I banished my acne around three years ago. I also had a lot of tiny blemishes, again mainly on my chin and also on my nose that I just couldn't budge as well as a lot of dryness. Now my skin tone is so much more even, I still have a bit of redness on my cheeks and around my nose but it's about a million times better that it was before, and the redness on my forehead and chin is barely noticeable. My pores are smaller & my skin is a lot less dry than it was before. The Glycolic Acid helps to improve moisture retention so my days of flaky skin are pretty much completely in the past. This probably sounds ridiculous because I'm raving about it so much but I am currently so happy and confident with my skin, which is something I never would have thought I would say considering that three years ago my face was covered in acne. It's been a long journey and this product has worked absolute wonders.

I've found a couple of pictures that will hopefully somewhat show the difference in my skin. In the before picture I'm covered in make up; foundation, concealer, powder, blush - the works and my skin tone is super uneven and you can see some of the blemishes on my cheeks. In the after picture I'm just wearing the Maybelline BB cream and that's it!

For £30 you get 30ml of product and after a couple of months of use I would say I've used about a 5th of the bottle. So although it seems a little pricey, it will last a super long time & you're definitely getting your money's worth. One pipette full is the perfect amount of product to cover your face, neck & chest so I never feel like I'm wasting any. The packaging is lovely, the bottle is lightly frosted glass and doesn't feel cheap at all. One thing to note is that it's not recommended for sensitive skin. I would describe my skin as slightly sensitive, it can react to some products and become aggravated and sore but I haven't experienced any tingling or discomfort at all.

I'm currently using a few REN products in my routine and it's safe to say I'm hooked! There are no parabens, sulfates, mineral oils or anything nasty in their products and they are a brand that is against animal testing. I think I've found a new favourite skin care brand!

Have you ever tried any REN products before?

September Sponsor Love #1.

For the past couple of months I have opened my blog up for advertising and through this I have discovered so many new blogs that I now check on a daily basis to see if they have new posts up. I really hope that you have discovered some new favourite reads as well & I'm going to start doing a little feature post each month as a kind of share the love type thing. I wouldn't be where I am today with Sailboat without receiving shout outs from some of my absolute favourite bloggers, I'm forever thankful to them and I love these kind of posts because you get to discover new & beautiful blogs and small businesses that you may otherwise have missed out on! I hope you like these beauties as much as I do!
------------------------------------

Laura is a supremely talented writer and she has this absolutely amazing ability and willingness to share snippets of her life and make you feel as though you've been friends for years. Instead of being separated by computer screens, you're sitting down for a good old natter over a cup of tea in your favourite coffee shop. Even better, the snippets that she shares are so relateable, I can guarantee that you'll sit down to read one of her posts and be nodding furiously in agreement and thinking 'oh my gosh, I have so been there!' She's a true gem and you're missing out if you don't go and take a peek at her wonderful blog!
------------------------------------
H is a twenty nine year old self confessed nail art addict and if you're ever short of nail related inspiration then Nail Tart is absolutely the place to visit! H makes me want to have the patience to create such beautiful nail art designs but for now I shall just sit quietly in awe of her talent! My two absolute favourite designs are her Tiger Print nails and her Lady Bird nails. They're both gorgeous!
------------------------------------
Angelica is a beautiful lady originally from Poland but currently living in London and she is the beauty behind Burning Blonde. She is a lover of all things beauty and fashion and her blog really is a true reflection of her. Her posts are always varied and my favourites are her weekly Sunday Portraits and her detailed product reviews.
------------------------------------

Paris in a Bottle is a beautiful handmade jewellery shop overflowing with super cute, modern and elegant pieces that focus particularly on details, colours and materials all wrapped up with a pinch of Parisian chic. My absolute favourite pieces from the collection are the Bow & Sparkle Earrings, the Twisted Pastel bracelet and the Birds Nest necklace. What are your favourite pieces?
------------------------------------
Rhiannon is the wonderful lady behind The Barbelle, she's a total girlie girl and her blog is a perfect mixture of reviews, outfit of the days, favourites and everything else in between. I've really felt as though I've got to know Rhiannon through her writing even though we've never met and her little piece of the Internet has fast become one of my favourite places to stop by.

Please link me to some of your favourite blogs in the comments!

Part Two will be up on Friday!

Mid Week Wishlist!

1. ASOS Bunny Ring Holder. 2. DiorSkin Nude Illuminating Powder. 3. Essie Lovie Dovie. 4. Red Fox SpiritHood. 5. Dogtooth Blazer. 6. Japonesque Pro Blush Brush. 7. Lovestruck Rona Shirt. 8. Hero&Cape Kitty Cat Cropped Tee. 9. Dior Addict Lip Glow.
01. How adorable is this little bunny ring holder from ASOS?! I am so in love with it and even though I'm a little disappointed that it's made of plastic I think it's too cute to resist! It would look super sweet sat on my bedside table!

02. I've seen the Diorskin Nude Shimmer Instant Illuminating Powder popping up on a few blogs lately and for some reason any time I see a Dior make up item I instantly want it. There's something so luxurious about their products and I always hear such good things about them, which instantly justifies the price tags in my mind! This sounds like such a beautiful product and one that's definitely worth the investment!

03. I've discovered that I really only like wearing pink or blue shades on my nails for some reason and the polish that has caught my eye lately is Essie Lovie Dovie. This looks like the most perfect light pink and I really love the fresh and clean look this kind of colour gives to the nails. I really like Essie polishes, I think they last quite well without chipping and they have an amazing colour range!

04. With the weather turning practically Arctic (okay, I may be exaggerating ever so slightly on that one!) over the past few days my love of SpiritHoods has been growing! This is the Red Fox SpiritHood and I love the little ears, I think it's so cute. Importantly it also looks SO cosy and comfortable!

05. It was love at first sight when I spotted this Dogtooth Blazer by Unique on the Topshop website! The colour is perfect, in fact the only thing I'm not keen on is the £140 price tag. Oh how I wish it were cheaper!

06. I adore Japonesque brushes and after having a look around for a new blush brush I've decided that the Japonesque Pro Blush Brush looks really lovely! It's definitely more on the pricey side but I have a few of their brushes already and I must say that they are such lovely quality.

07. Lovestruck is a clothing brand that hasn't been on my radar for very long, but I am so in love with their pieces & their brand name is super cute! Burgundy is one of my favourite colours for the Autumn and I have fallen in love with the Rona Shirt, it's so cute! The cream detailing and pretty buttons really make it extra lovely!

08. Hero&Cape have just launched their new collection and one of the stand out pieces for me is the Kitty Cat Cropped Tee. I'm not a huge cat person (don't hate me!) but how can you resist that little face. It helps that he's a pastel mint colour too because it's one of my absolute favourites! Another favourite from the collection is the Gold Moustache Man Tee. He's so cute with his little top hat!

09. As a self confessed lover of lip balms, it is no real surprise that I'm lusting over the Dior Addict Lip Glow! I have the Dior Rosy Glow blush which is supposed to adjust to each persons individual chemistry to give a unique colour and I love it, so I have high hopes for this little beauty. I'm not hugely into lip products (although I'm sure you'd disagree if you saw my lip product drawer!) but when I do reach for them I like them to feel weightless and not heavy and dry. At £22 this is one expensive lip balm but I so want to give it a whirl and see if it works! Have you ever tried it before?

What's on your current lust list?

MAC Lovelorn Lipstick.

MAC Lovelorn Lipstick. (£14.)
I'm not a huge MAC make up addict, there are a few things that I really love and I must admit that their lipsticks are lovely, I just think they're a little bit pricey! I feel like every time I have a look at the website their prices seem to have gone up again! With that being said I don't think I'll ever be without Lovelorn in my collection because it's just so perfect. It has a lustre formulation which gives the perfect amount of colour to the lips without being too much and it's glossy without being overly shiny. There's just something about this lipstick that is so beautiful, so wearable and it just manages to look nice with everything. It's a true mid-toned blue pink that is neither too light or too overpowering. It's just lovely, really lovely and I think it would suit pretty much everyone!

What's your favourite lipstick?

GlossyBox: September 2012. The Special Edition Maggie Li Box.

I can't begin this post without commenting on how utterly gorgeous the design of this months GlossyBox is. The gorgeous illustrated design by Maggie Li makes this a box to keep, either for yourself or to fill with goodies to give as a gift to someone special. My Mama loved the design so much that it's already sitting proudly on her dressing table holding her favourite make up items and it looks wonderful!
September 2012 GlossyBox♦ £12.95.

This months theme is Rising Stars, promising to introduce us all to the latest exciting products to coincide with London Fashion Week. I looked at a few spoiler posts before I received my box yesterday evening and I must admit that I wasn't blown away, but after having a closer look at the products I received I'm very happy this month.

I'll start with the perfume sample and I haven't ever really been wowed with a fragrance sample in a beauty box, until now. Lady Gaga Fame perfume is beautiful, delicate and wonderful, not at all how I expected it to smell, but I absolutely adore it. It's soft and floral but with that little bit of edge that I can't quite put my finger on. A 30ml bottle retails for a super reasonable £25. I think I'll be popping this one on my Christmas wish list!

Next on to some Rodial products and I know that this is a brand that has quite a cult following but it's just not one that interests me. Included are two sachets each of the 5 Minute Facial and the Glamoxy Snake Serum. I tried the 5 Minute Facial last night and I can't say I was overly impressed. The consistency was quite dry and it just didn't feel luxurious. Scent wise I think it's quite similar to the REN Radiance line but I love the products in that line about a million times more. The Snake Serum isn't something that appeals to me at all, even once I'd realised that it doesn't actually contain any real snake bits and pieces, I'm silly, I know!

The Body Shop Vitamin E Moisture Cream is a best seller and one that my Mama has used for years. I actually really love this moisuriser, I've been through several tubs in the past and it hydrates without being too heavy or greasy. A tried and tested product loved by many, and I'll be passing this on to my Mama because I know how much she loves it. A 50ml pot is £9 and I think it's definitely one to try if your skin is on the drier side.

Hair products never really seem to grab my attention. I don't do very much with my hair and hardly ever use any product in it so usually hair care samples get lost at the back of a drawer but after washing my hair last night I used a bit of the L'Oreal Professional Tecni Art Full Volume Extra Mousse and it really surprised me. Usually I find mousse just makes my hair a little sticky but I actually noticed a difference in the volume in my hair after using this! My hair doesn't feel sticky or crunchy or weighed down at all, I'm really impressed & would even consider purchasing a full size if I still like it once my sample is finished. A 250ml can is £10.30, but a little cheaper online, so a little on the pricey side, but if it works then it's worth it! Included in the box was also a sample of the L'Oreal Tecni Art Liss Control Smooth Control Gel Cream which promises to banish frizz & I haven't tried this yet but I'll keep you updated if I do.

Finally, a good eye cream is something I'm always on the lookout for so I'm excited to try the Balance Me Wonder Eye Cream. It promises to soothe tired eyes, smooth away dark shadows and reduce the appearance of fine lines. We shall see if it lives up to those claims, I'm not expecting miracles, but on first impressions it feels really nice. It's hydrating but importantly it doesn't feel too heavy. A 15ml tube retails for £20.

So that is the September GlossyBox. Are you subscribed? If so I'd love to see which products you received and if you like them!

Monthly Favourites: August 2012.

Oh gosh, I am super late with this and I haven't done a monthly favourites post for ages. I was doing so well, I don't think I missed one for over a year and then, well, I'm not really sure what happened. I guess I fell into a rut of using the same products over and over & I'm not sure if seeing the same things a lot is a little boring? I imagine it is! I've been discovering a few new products recently that have fast become staples in my every day routine, which I'm so happy about because I love discovering new things!
MAC Face & Body foundation. 100ml - £26.50. 50ml - £20.50. // Sigma F80 Flat Kabuki♦ - $16.

MAC Face & Body foundation has been a staple product for me all summer. Even though it hasn't been super hot in England I have been loving a sheer coverage foundation and this is absolutely perfect. Once it's on and set, it doesn't budge at all until I take it off at night which I think is amazing. I love that it doesn't highlight any dry patches on my face and it only takes a few seconds to buff into the skin. My new favourite brush to apply this foundation with is the Sigma F80 Flat Kabuki. This is the first Sigma brush I have ever tried and I must say, I'm so impressed with it. Don't get me wrong, I still really like the ELF Studio Powder Brush for foundation but this Sigma brush is particularly amazing with MAC Face & Body. It's dense but super soft and it blends foundation like a dream, it's one of those brushes that does all the hard work for you.
No 7 Beautiful Skin Cleansing Water. £9.

I was on the look out for something I could get on the high street that could replace my Bioderma which is fast running out, and I found the No 7 Beautiful Skin Cleansing Water. No 7 isn't usually a brand I gravitate towards in Boots but I'm so happy that I had a look because I think this is a really lovely product. It's super gentle on the skin and removes pretty much all of my face make up before I go on to cleanse with my Neal's Yard Chamomile Cleanser. I don't like using this on my eye make up because it stings my eyes a little but it works like an absolute dream on my face make up. I picked this up with a £5 off voucher but I would happily pay full price!
REN Resurfacing AHA Concentrate♦ - £30.

Another skin care item that I have fallen in love with that I will talk about in more detail in another post is the REN Resurfacing AHA Concentrate. I think this is a miracle in a pot, I really do. I've been using this for around a month now and I have noticed such a huge difference in my skin. I honestly couldn't be happier. It promises to renew the complexion giving a radiant and youthful glow and it absolutely delivers. It deserves a post all to itself!
Benefit Hoola Bronzer. £23.50. // Japonesque Safari Chic Bronzer Brush♦ £19.50.

Ever since I added Benefit Hoola Bronzer to my make up collection I have been reaching for it every single day. I really like that it's quite cool toned so it doesn't look orange on my fair skin and a little bit goes such a long way. Even though it's undeniably pricey, I can see this lasting pretty much forever as you get a lot of product in the pan. My new favourite brush for applying bronzer with is the Japonesque Safari Chic Bronzer Brush. Not only is the cutest brush I have ever seen, it manages to pick up the perfect amount of product and it's super soft. I look forward to this step in my make up routine every day!
OXY Seaweed Power Clear Pore Exfoliant♦ £5.99.

I have been trying out a few products from the OXY Seaweed Power range and the Clear Pore Exfoliant is by far my favourite product. My skin was getting really blemishy and within a couple of days of using this, my skin had completely cleared up. It has quite a gritty texture and a really fresh scent which I really like. I didn't find that it irritated my skin at all and it worked wonders on my skin in such a short space of time. The only thing I don't like so much is the packaging. The product has quite a runny texture and the hole in the cap is quite large so if you're not careful, lots of product comes running out.
NARS Penny Lane Cream Blush. £20.50.

NARS Penny Lane cream blush is pretty much the only blush I've been reaching for and I absolutely adore it. I'm sure this has been in my favourites before because it just looks beautiful with any make up look. It doesn't look very special in the pan but it manages to subtly sculpt my cheekbones while adding a nice flush of colour at the same time. It's also the perfect layering blush, pretty much any shade looks absolutely beautiful over the top of it!
Rimmel Rose Libertine nail polish. £3.69.

I was in Tesco doing a boring food shop and got distracted by the beauty aisle, as you do, and I found Rose Libertine nail polish sitting on the Rimmel stand. I had just stopped biting my nails and thought I'd treat myself to a pretty nail colour. This has fast become my all time favourite nail polish. The colour is beautiful, the brush is nice and wide so application is super quick, it dries fast and doesn't chip easily. I will definitely be having a look at more polishes in this range!
Revlon Lip Butters in Lollipop and Sweet Tart. £7.99.

Finally my last favourite is a bit of a rediscovery. I've had these Revlon lip butters for ages, I loved them at the start and then they got lost at the back of my lip drawer and forgotten about. I was after a super bright pink & as I was rummaging through to see what I already had I rediscovered these and fell in love with them all over again. I know not everyone is a fan of these but I adore the colours and the fact they feel so comfortable on the lips. They're easy for on the go, really pigmented and quite hydrating as well. They're a little pricey for the amount of product you get but I still love them!

What was your favourite product during August?
xoxo

P.S. I posted this in video form over on my YouTube channel. It would mean the absolute world if you would like to subscribe. I've made it my new goal to post regular videos & I'm excited for the challenge!
