This Weekend #5

This weekend I'm back in the midst of essay writing doom once again, but that doesn't mean I haven't found the time to sneak out for a little adventure to the charity shops because I'm just a little bit addicted to their book section...but I think that's okay!

Deep, rich red and burgundy tones are my absolute favourites right now. Most autumn & winters in the past have had me reaching solely for black and grey but this year I've been incorporating a little more colour in with my usual choices. The gold heart detail on my bag from Love Hearts and Crosses is a sweet addition, it's such a small detail but the bag wouldn't be quite the same or quite as nice without it, I don't think. I'm beginning to think that small bags are the way forward, this fits my phone, my coin purse and a good book comfortably, which on an everyday basis is all I really need!

I'm also totally head over heels for my new reindeer socks, more on those and a few other winter warmers next week - oh the suspense ;)!

Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson

In all honesty this isn't a book that I would be reading if I didn't have to for University, but I've surprised myself with how much I'm enjoying it. I think I'll revisit it next summer when I'll be able to read it without having to analyse every little thing so I'll be able to enjoy it for the fabulous adventure story it is!

After waiting for what felt like forever for this to be available on iTunes & finding a time both my boyfriend and I were completely free for the evening, we finally saw The Great Gatsby. Predictably I absolutely loved it; I think the soundtrack is amazing if a little bizarre at times, the editing was spot on and the first time Gastby is seen on screen = perfection!

You know the score by now, cold evenings instantly mean hot baths in my mind. We actually had our first dusting of snow last week, which never fails to make me smile and it confirmed that long hot baths are very acceptable right now. Usually I like my baths to have lots of bubbles but although there aren't any with this Bath Soak* from Conscious Skincare, the scent is so wonderfully inviting and comforting I don't mind one bit!

The warm glow of lights is another must have thing for me during the colder months, they make me feel so much warmer and cosier & they're super pretty! It was only a matter of time before I caved and bought the small bunny lamp from DotComGiftShop to go with my larger one, I mean, there's only so long you can resist the cuteness, right?!

When I was in Argos buying another bookcase I spotted these super beautiful pink flower lights - they were half price and there were only one set left so I had to have them. It was fate, at least that's what I'm telling myself!

Will Grayson, Will Grayson // The Ocean at the End of the Lane // Fangirl // The snow Child // Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close

All of the books!

Are you having a lovely weekend?
I hope so!

Love, Jennie
xoxo

  13. I looooove the bag, it looks so perfect and the heart detail reminds me of my wallet so basically I ABSOLUTELY need to have it, right?
The reindeer socks look so cute! Can't wait to watch Rudolph this year!
The bunny and fairy lights are so cute, I wish I'd find nice ones!
Will Grayson is so, so good! I have recently started to absolutely love John Green and he wrote this book together with David Levithan and I've read another one of him and they're all so good! Will Grayson is a bit confusing at times because of the names and who is friends with whom but it's so well written and the story is so amazing and so relatable and I love how the authors make something that is usually considered unnormal look perfectly normal because it never really seems to be an issue to the characters^^ (I'm trying not to spoil here so this all sounds awkward^^)

  25. Your bunny light never fails to make me smile :) Oh the Great Gatsby was wonderful. Such a clear interpretation of the novel and I loved the soundtrack- my thought is that it instantly makes Fitzgerald's thoughts on the greed and extravagence of the 20s applicable to our current day, whilst letting it be a period film. Plus, Leo is just amazing in it.
Hope you've been having a lovely weekend Jennie

  37. I'm addicted to the book sections in charity shops too, can't remember the last time I bought a book from anywhere else! They're good because the charities get money, the books are super cheap and often in fab condition and I often end up getting gems I would have otherwise ignored had I been in a book shop! xxx
