thunderstorm.

All of a sudden, after hours of uninterrupted sunshine, the sky darkened. Blue skies and fluffy white clouds were dislodged by gloomy storm clouds. So dark it looked like nightfall in the middle of the afternoon.

Thunder boomed overhead, demanding attention.
Fleeting thoughts that perhaps the sky could fall at any second. So emphatic.
Lightning jarring its way through the gloom. Illuminating raindrops enveloping everything in a vitreous cloak.
The blue-pink roses, the abandoned tennis balls, Ted the gnome.
Hail stones clattered, ricocheting off everything in their path before hitting the ground. Melting instantaneously, becoming part of the expeditiously expanding puddles. Becoming part of something bigger. Working as one to create something new.

And as I stood outside.
Soaked through.
Listening to the booming thunder.
Watching the bright flashes of lightning.
Feeling the hail stones tap tap tapping on the frame of my glasses.
I was entangled within something bigger than myself.
It was the perfect moment.

  21. As I was reading this, the thunderstorm which was announced for today started. Allyson, the protagonist from Gayle Forman's novel "Just One Day" which I am currently reading would now ask you if this is an accident.. :)

Your writing is truly beautiful and I'd love to read more!
Also, nothing beats thunderstorms. I'm now going to light candles and finish my book :)
