Five Things & Five Blogs I Love | 2015 Edition #7

Catching Up.
After a truly terrible last week or so (you know when one thing turns into another, which turns into another?!) I'm finally catching up with everything. I'm caught up on Bloglovin' subscriptions, I've replied to almost all of your incredible comments (thank you for always being so kind!), my desk isn't the disaster zone it was yesterday, and my essay is on its way to being properly planned. Having things under control again feels really good.

Nokia.
In a bid to finally own a phone that actually works (my last one wouldn't let me answer it when it rang) I bought a £20 Nokia and it's fabulous. Although I have already been asked a couple of times if I'm trying to make some kind of retro fashion statement, which made me chuckle. I just don't need all the functions of a smartphone. It has Sudoku on it which is a bit addictive and most importantly, I can answer it when it rings!

Neutral Make Up.
A few years ago I was all about the pink blushes and lipsticks, but now I find the neutral shades a lot more flattering and easy to wear. I put on a pink blush the other day and I didn't really feel like myself so I took it off and replaced it with Rimmel Santa Rose.

The Casual Vacancy.
I don't watch a great amount of TV but I'm pretty excited for The Casual Vacancy to start on Sunday night, mostly because I'm a bit of a J.K Rowling fan girl and also because I do love a good BBC drama!

Coming Home by Leon Bridges.
Saw Leon on the new releases section of Spotify yesterday and it was love at first play!

  3. I like more neutral colored makeup too! I don't think I know how to apply it correctly so if I wear something bright or very colorful I feel like I look like a clown haha

  4. I feel excatly the same way when it comes to neutural make up. When I was younger I always went towards the bright & bold colours at the make-up counters. Now I find myself going towards the more neutral colours which makes me feel 100x more comfortable.

  5. I'm so glad you've managed to catch up I do hope you are ok? :)

I read the Casual Vacancy and wasn't impressed with it at all. Hopefully the TV series will be better, although like you, I rarely watch it so I don't know if I'll watch this really! xx

  6. A phone that doesn't let you answer actually sounds pretty good to me haha! Glad you're having a better week than last. We've just got back from a little getaway so my weekend will no doubt be full of unpacking and catching up on errands!

  8. Love that you have bought a retro phone, I don't have a phone & its lovely. People always ask me how I can function without one & I just laugh. Don't get me wrong I love technology & it has a place, I use my iPad for all sorts but I think smart phones aren't always a good thing

    1. Hehe. I'm not great with social media so I don't really miss them throughout the day, I just have a quick look through in the evenings to see what's been going on! :) x

    2. I'm terrible at checking all day, every day. I'm sure I'd get so much more done if I actually put my phone down for once!

  17. I had a £15 Samsung phone for about 4 years after everybody else had upgraded to flashy phones - it was the best! It finally died a death when I... reversed over it... in my car.... but I got so much more done without all the gadgets on my iphone. xxx

  19. I didn't know that there was a TV adaptation of The Casual Vacancy - thanks for the tip! I had a Blackberry phone at work for ages which wasn't a smart phone and it made everything so much simpler - no one else seemed to get it when I said I liked having 'just a phone'!
