Make Up Bag | April 2015

Benefit High Beam
I'm really going for the glowy look this month and this little sample size High Beam is calling to me. Unfortunately Benefit aren't cruelty free so I won't be investing in the full size bottle but I'll be making the most of this while I can. I know that MeMeMe have something really similar in their range and I believe they're cruelty free. They're also much more affordable too so I'll be going to have a look at their products very soon.

Seventeen Mirror Shine Lipstick in Beehive
An oldie but a goodie. This is the old packaging (which I really miss, although the new black tubes to look very swish) so I really need to use it up very soon because I've had it for a little while. Beehive is a very wearable not-too-nude nude with a beautiful glossy formulation. I'm not sure whether Seventeen are cruelty free but until I find out I unfortunately won't be purchasing anything else from them.

Sleek Pout Paint in Port*
This came in my Glossybox last month and although it's super intense in the tube, a really tiny amount gives the most beautiful berry pink stain. I can't believe these are under £5, especially considering this little tube will probably last me forever!

Essence Lash Princess Mascara*
Another product that came in my Glossybox last month and I'm looking forward to giving this mascara a good try over the next few weeks. I've tried it once so far and I wasn't bowled over, but it seemed to last well throughout the day without flaking.

So Susan Universal Blush*
I already know I have a lot of love for this blush. It has such a pretty finish because it's been so finely milled and gives dimension without being glittery or overly intense. It's one of those colours that aims to adjust with your skin's natural chemistry, hopefully developing into a shade that's flattering. I can't really vouch for that because I haven't used it on anyone by myself, but it makes me look really healthy and awake, which I love.

March Recap.
» The Sarah McNamara blush has become one of my very favourite products once again.
» Similarly I love the Burt's Bees Lip Shine. Smooth, glossy formula with a hint of colour. Perfect.
» The MaxFactor FaceFinity Primer creates a really smooth base. It's lovely & I wish it were cruelty free.

Have you tried any of these products before?
What's in your make up bag this month?

  1. I'm really loving a dewy base at the moment too!
I'm trying to research which companies are cruelty free too, I love the look of those new Maxfactor Creme Puff blushers that are meant to be dupes for hourglass blushers but can't bring myself to buy them as I know they're not cruelty free, I think the hourglass ones are cruelty free though so I can just save up for one! x

  2. I have the Seventeen lipstick in Beehive in the old packaging too (I'm not too keen on the blue, but the new black packaging looks so sleek). The Sleek Pout Paint in Port looks lovely, something I'd want to invest in during the cooler months.

  4. I got the Lip Stain in my Glossybox too and have to say I wasn't MASSIVELY blown away by it! I found it didn't really stay on as well as I'd hoped! Maybelline have a great lip stain which I have in a few colours, the 24 Hour Superstay which really does stay put!

  9. I did some research a while back on cruelty free stuff because I though since I'm a lifelong vegetarian I really should be careful about the non food products I buy too. As far as I know Boots are one of those companies who say they don't test on animals themselves, but they DO *buy* ingredients from other companies who they say may test on animals. They claim that in some cases it is unavoidable as some things still *have* to be tested on animals. Which I find a spurious claim since other companies manage to create completely cruelty free cosmetics that are just as nice as their tested on animal counterparts from other companies.

Have you seen this page? http://nottested.co.uk/Cosmetics.html I find it helpful though I don't know how up to date it is. I tend to use it as a rough guide as to the general direction a company is going in.

  14. I really like the idea of this post! I used Benefit High Beam just yesterday after a while of neglecting it since I remembered how much I liked it. I feel it's almost underrated in the beauty world, with a lot more attention being given to other similar liquid highlighters like the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfectors.

  15. 17 is cruelty free, I have emailed boots in the past to ask and they assured me that all their own brands are - Natural Collection, 17 and Number 7
