Which three words would you use to best describe ChrissyLilly?
Personal, sporadic, inspirational.
What prompted you to start your blog and are there any posts that you're especially proud of?
I've been reading blogs for as long as I can remember, without realising I could actually start one too! It wasn't until I was living as an Au Pair in Italy in 2013 that I realised how much I wanted to start my own blog. I started ChrissyLilly on Blogger and wrote about anything and everything I wanted. I was blown away by the huge community of bloggers I found, especially through Twitter chats. I found it really hard to make friends in Italy so it was great to be able to talk to like-minded people online every night!
I've had a love/hate relationship with my blog over the years. I found myself focusing a lot on beauty and losing motivation and inspiration to write. I took a few months off and came back in January of this year.
My favourite posts are always those where I really let go and let myself be vulnerable, it's harder than you might think! Here are a few of my favourites:
You've recently moved to Canada from Ireland, which sounds like the most wonderful adventure; what was it that prompted your move and has everything gone to plan so far?
At the beginning of the year I was feeling really stuck. I was unhappy in my 9-5 and had no idea where I wanted to go next or what I wanted to do. I was just feeling a sense of dread in every day. That's not how I wanted to live my life! G and I had always said that maybe one day we'll move to Canada, but decided that 2015 was our year. We haven't looked back since. It was a really scary decision to make, especially leaving a stable job, but I'm really happy we did it!
So far everything has been amazing. We've settled in and both found jobs that we enjoy doing. Gary's is in his field and mine gives me time to focus on my blog and YouTube, which is something that I really enjoy and would love to pursue further. I haven't been hit with any homesickness yet, but I'm sure it will come eventually!
What are you most excited to do in Canada?
I'm just so excited to explore, make new friends, and just live my life independently. I've never lived outside of my parents' home so it's a big step for me! I'm learning how to budget my money more carefully, how to manage a house, and how to maintain relationships and a job all whilst exploring a new country. It's awesome!
Name three things that have made you happy recently?
- Plans to meet my internet friend, Kayla, in person this year! We've always talked about meeting and it's closer to becoming a reality than ever before.
- G's hugs. He's there whenever I need him and it's something I never take for granted.
- Coffee. Always.
You're hosting a dinner party and you've invited three people you really admire. Tell us a little about them and why they inspire you.
I think I'm supposed to be really insightful here, but I'm about to let you down! (Not at all!! - Jennie)
- Mindy Kaling - she's so funny and I think she's a really empowering women in Hollywood. I'd love to chat with her!
- Ingrid Nilsen - I absolutely love her YouTube videos and how she's evolved over the years.
- Shay Mitchell - just so I could get her hair tips!!
What does your perfect weekend look like?
First of all, my perfect weekend involves me being able to sleep past 8! My internal alarm clock hates me! I'd start the day off with a short walk/hike if the weather's nice. Then I'd come home, browse around on YouTube and blogs for a while and head to the kitchen. I love to bake and cook so I'd cook something amazing and bake some brownies/cookies. Then the rest of the weekend would be spent watching Netflix in my PJs. I'm a big homebody. I don't always like to fill my days with countless activities and plans, so spending a night on the couch is perfect for me!
Your instagram is full of so many yummy looking plates of food. Is cooking something you enjoy spending time doing? What is your favourite dish to make and eat?
Anything in the kitchen, I love it - cooking, baking, eating, you name it! I'd say my favourite thing to make is anything Mexican. It's so fun to make and eat and SO yummy! Baking however is another story. I don't bake as much as I'd like (unless they've created calorie free baking since I wrote this?!), but it's my passion. I ran a cake decorating business out of my home a few years ago and it was amazing. My signature dish is definitely brownies. I just can't bake (read: eat) enough!
As someone who successfully documents your health and fitness journey, what is the number one tip you would give to someone who is looking to incorporate exercise more into their lifestyle for the first time?
Start slow. Don't expect to go from the couch to a marathon runner overnight! You'll only wear yourself down both physically and emotionally! I'd also say not to get hung up on not seeing progress. I'm the type of person that wants instant results. It's hard when you don't see results instantly, but just keep going! I've been on my journey for over 5 years now and still struggle with this!
If you could only keep 5 possessions, what would they be and why?
- My laptop - it has EVERYTHING on it!
- My camera - I love documenting my life in vlogs and photos!
- My kindle - so I'll never run out of books to read!
- My Tassimo - coffee is life.
- My planner

Thank you so much to Chrissy for answering these questions, it was so lovely reading your answers and I'll definitely try to not be too focused on seeing immediate results when it comes to exercising and instead try to enjoy the process! I would love if you would like to pop over and show her some love, she's wonderful!
P.S. If you would like to partner with sailboat in the coming months, there are some more details here!
