One new album each day - 11-20/366

Part two of many, the next ten albums/EPs I've listened to this year. Some were okay, some were brilliant but I've really loved stretching my musical boundaries so far. This may just be my favourite challenge that I've set myself this year.

Eleven. We Are King - King
About: LA soul trio.
Favourite tracks: The Right, Supernatural, Mister Chameleon.
Thoughts: Smooth!

Twelve. Begin - Lion Babe
About: Neo soul duo.
Favourite tracks: Whole, Wonder Woman, Treat Me Like Fire, Little Dreamer.
Thoughts: Loved it!

Thirteen. Big Grrrl Small World - Lizzo
About: Alt hip hop.
Favourite tracks: Ain't I, Ride, Humanise, B.G.S.W, The Fade.
Thoughts: Something a little different for me, really liked it.

Fourteen. Blue Neighbourhood - Troye Sivan
About: Electro pop.
Favourite tracks: Fools, Too Good, Blue.
Thoughts: Pleasantly surprised!

Fifteen. Not To Disappear - Daughter
About: Indie folk.
Favourite tracks: Mothers, No Care, To Belong.
Thoughts: It was okay, but I was expecting something more somehow.

Sixteen. Crybaby - Melanie Martinez
About: Electropop.
Favourite tracks: ALL OF THEM!
Thoughts: Completely brilliant!

Seventeen. Pool - Porches.
About: Synth driven pop.
Favourite tracks: Even The Shadows, Security.
Thoughts: Pretty good.

Eighteen. Suicide Songs - Money
About: Alt rock.
Favourite tracks: You look like a sad painting on both sides of the sky, Night Came
Thoughts: Layered, multi-faceted + melodic.

Nineteen. New View - Eleanor Friedberger
About: Indie.
Thoughts: A little too slow.

Twenty. Chill - The Japanese House
About: Electronic-leaning pop.
Favourite tracks: Clean, Sugar Pill.
Thoughts: Chill, lots of depth, some Imogen Heap vibes.

Favourites: Lion Babe, Melanie Martinez + The Japanese House.

  1. The only album I've listened to before is crybaby and it is absolutely amazing! Melanie Martinez is so talented and her aesthetic is so adorable. Her music videos are always super creative as well!

  2. This is such a cool and inspiring challenge! And what a great way to find new music :D
I like Troye Sivans new album, actually the same songs you do :P and 'Wild'.

If you want, I dont know if you do, but the I can recommend you sleeping at lasts albums. (all of them! lol but Atlas 2 is really nice) and the scores from Carol and Brooklyn I think are amazing too! And if you want to check a danish singer out then Lukas Grahams first album 'Lukas Graham' is pretty cool.

  6. I felt the same about the new Daughter album. Don't get me wrong, I do really like it, it just wasn't 'woahhh' like I expected. But then nothing will be better than my favourite track by them, 'Home', to me. I think I expect everything to live up to that.

  8. I fell in love with The Japanese House 5 seconds into the first EP, so I'm really excited to see that you've included it in your favourites. 'House Clean' has been a great extension to 'Pools To Bathe In' - I tend to turn to TJH, Bon Iver or Volcano Choir's album 'Repave' whenever I'm craving calm tunes :)

  9. I feel like the Lion Babe album was released at just the right time with international fashion week's taking place. It has such a catwalk feel. So glad you're doing music posts, they're so hard to come by in blogging.

  10. Oooooo I love this idea! Troye's album was fantastic, so not what I expected from a YouTube musician. And GOSH I adore Melanie Martinez! Glad you're a fan too :) Xx

  11. This is such a cool idea! Last year I was so busy that I didn't have a lot of time to just sit, listen and enjoy new music but I really want to do that this year, you've inspired me! x
