Review: Neal's Yard Chamomile Cleanser.

neal's yard
Deeming this my Holy Grail cleanser without having tried any similar products is perhaps me getting a little ahead of myself, but, I am a firm believer in that once you've found something that works for you, sticking with it can only be a good thing. Like with every product there are some negatives however for me personally, the positives far outweigh any minor niggles I have.
neal's yardNeal's Yard say - "Lifts away impurities and make up without upsetting even sensitive skin. Calming restorative organic chamomile is blended with moisturising shea and organic coconut. Gently yet effectively removes eye make up."

My skin is stupidly sensitive, ever since I suffered from acne when I was 18 it's been aggravated by many products but this cleanser really does soothe while removing my make up; I'm both very impressed and very happy. This has a very subtle chamomile scent to it that I really like & I think you'd struggle to really dislike. Consistency wise it's a thick cream that feels so luxurious as you massage it into your skin, it's one of those products that I really look forward to using.
neal's yard
As someone with oily eyelids & very watery eyes I have to use waterproof mascara to stop any transferring/running throughout the day and because of this I use a separate eye make up remover first. Now, I use a lot of mascara so I often find that not all traces are removed but this cleanser does an excellent job of removing any left over product. The formula is gentle enough for me to use around my sensitive eyes, which to be honest is nothing short of a minor miracle!

I read their recommended way of using the product - "Apply a pea size amount to cotton wool and wipe away daily impurities from the face. Rinse with warm water." - and promptly ignored it! Personally I think a far more effective way of using this is to massage the cream into your skin and remove with a warm muslin cloth a la Liz Earle's hot cloth cleanser. This allows for the gentle exfoliation of your skin each day as well as ensuring all traces of make up being fully removed.
neal's yard
I only use this on days where I have been wearing make up, there's no real reason for this other than I don't want to use it up too quickly. At £11.50 it's not hideously expensive but it's not something I want to have to repurchase often because unfortunately for me, money doesn't grow on trees! However, having said all this I do find that a little goes a long way and although it's a thick cream, it spreads easily. So for me I'd say one pot would last maybe 4-6 months, which isn't bad at all.

The main question is, would I repurchase? My answer is yes, absolutely! I don't think I could be without this now! It costs £11.50 for a 50g pot and you can purchase from Neal's Yard stores & NealsYardRemedies.com

Have you tried any Neal's Yard products? What's your favourite cleanser?

A little Eyes Lips Face loot.

Eyes Lips Face offer me an entirely guilt free shopping experience because everything is so inexpensive and I love it! After months of using one brush to apply my foundation, powder and blush I decided it was probably time to purchase a couple more to make my morning routine a little easier.
I use the ELF powder brush for my foundation and I love the effect that it gives so I decided to opt for the complexion brush to apply powder and the blush brush for well, applying my blush! They're both very soft with synthetic bristles which I like, I always feel a bit uncomfortable using brushes with natural hair, so I tend to avoid those. The best thing about these for me is the price, at £3.50 each you can't really go wrong!
butter pecan
To use the free delivery code you have to spend over £10 so I thought I'd use the opportunity to try out a couple of items I'd had my eye on from the regular £1.50 line. The cream eyeshadow duo's kept calling out to me so I thought I'd go with the shade Butter Pecan which is firmly within my neutral comfort zone and I'm really glad I did because this is so well pigmented with a lovely creamy consistency.
Finally I thought I'd try out one of the Plumping Lip Glaze's in the shade Babydoll which is a lovely pink colour. I've tried this briefly today and I wouldn't say that it made my lips that much plumper, but to be honest I don't think they need much plumping so I'm happy with that. It says for best results to apply the clear end first and then the colour on top, which I did, and was left with a lovely pink, glossy & slightly sparkly lip with a pleasant tingling sensation. I really like this so far and will probably pick up a few other shades in my next ELF order.
Have you ever tried anything from Eyes Lips Face? What are your favourite ELF products?

A couple of Outfits.

Starting work has really thrown any perceptions of time & dates I once had, or in other words, I've been slacking big time on the ol' blog front! I'm currently putting off going to the post office to pick up my package from Eyes Lips Face but it's just too hot & I'm not a fan of being too hot. Ick!

This is what my face & outfit looked like a week ago. (I told you I'd been slacking!)
face of the day
♥ Revlon ColorStay.
♥ Benefit Boi-ing & Erase Paste.
♥ Illamasqua Unrequited blush.
♥ Eyes Lips Face waterpoof eyeliner.
♥ Rimmel Sexy Curves Mascara.
♥ Revlon Pink Pout lipstick.
Dresses are the easiest thing to throw on at any time of the year & I love this navy one with the embroidery detailing. It's super cute and was a bargain from Primark. I got a size 12 and it's actually a little big for me, that's what you get for not trying things on, so I just pop a little grey vest top on underneath to prevent any potentially embarrassing moments!

This is my outfit of today!

This is one of my favourite dresses, it's one size too big for me but it was the last one in TK Maxx and I just had to have it! I love the floral pattern & the super cute little bow just under the bust. A waist belt with this is a must for me as it can look a little bit sack like but I couldn't not buy this little beauty!

Do you like to wear dresses or are you more a jeans kinda person?

Tag: Most Worn...

This is a super old tag that did the rounds on YouTube months ago & I've wanted to do it for yonks but never got round to it until now!

This is my second tube of pink pout and I'm sure I'll be on to my third before long. It's one of those lipsticks that I find so easy to wear I end up applying it without even having to think about it; no mirror required.
These beauties are so pretty & they go with absolutely any outfit, I adore them. I've never seen another pair quite like them.
I live in dresses so I have accumulated quite a collection of them. I carry my weight on my hips and thighs so I don't think any style of trouser looks quite right on me, therefore floaty dresses are a must! When I wear this one I feel like a doll and I love it!
Nail Polish;
button moon
A pain to apply sometimes, but the colour is worth it! Plus Button Moon was my absolute favourite thing to watch when I was little, and if pressed I'd probably admit it's still my favourite thing to watch!
You're probably wondering why, if these are my most worn, they look so pristine. Well, these are my back up pair! They were so inexpensive and I loved them so much I thought I may as well get another pair while I could.
Hair Product;
hair product
Okay, I cheated on this one and picked 2. Other than the obvious shampoo & conditioner I don't use any product in my hair apart from these two; heat protection when I blow dry my hair and smoothing serum for my ends.
This has been my signature scent since I was about 15 & if they ever stop making it I think I may cry!
Not always practical to carry because it only has short straps but it's worth it because it's just so darn pretty! ♥

Must Have Summer Products.

While I'm sure most people's top summer products would include fake tan & bronzer I'm far too lazy for that and like to embrace the pale! Instead I like to slather on the SPF & indulge my inner magpie and dig out some shimmer!
Firstly my absolute must have product for the summer is an SPF with UVA and UVB protection. My favourite is the Clinique Super City Block SPF 40 which is oil free, doesn't irritate my skin and provides a nice base for make up. Even though I don't ever sit out in the sun it's always important to protect your skin, especially your face.
Heavy foundations like Revlon ColorStay are a big no-no for me in the heat because they feel like a mask and that's just not pleasant! I wish that a tinted moisturiser provided enough coverage for me but they don't so I'm on the lookout for a medium coverage foundation but until I find one I like I'll be reaching for my Lily Lolo minerals or my 10 hour sleep effect with copious amounts of concealer.
I have oily eyelids at the best of times so in the sunshine anything on or near my eyes that could transfer somewhere I'd rather it didn't absolutely has to be waterproof! The ELF waterproof eyeliner pens are brilliant for their £1.50 price tag and I'll be getting one of each colour. The Collection 2000 mascara isn't my favourite but it's the only waterproof one I have at the moment, hopefully I'll find a nice one soon! Benefit Bad Gal waterproof is calling to me!
neutral eye
When it comes to eye shadow I'm very very lazy. I don't have a whole lot of lid space so I often think there's not much point taking the time to do an elaborate look when no one's going to really see it. My skills usually extend to a quick wash of colour over my lids, usually neutral shades but I'm hoping to pick up some more colourful shades soon. At the moment my favourite is Bronx from Illamasqua because it makes my blue eyes look even more vibrant.
These glitter eyeliners from Next have barely been touched since I first got them ages ago but I have plans to use them a lot this summer. They're not really easy enough to work with as liners but I love them for adding a touch of sparkle to the ends of my lashes. Hooray for glitter!
nail polish
Candy coloured nails are my absolute favourite and are a welcome change from the dark colours I've been wearing all through winter. Mint choc chip from 17 is my favourite polish at the moment, it's basically Button Moon from Collection 2000 but slightly easier to work with. I love it!
High on my list of make up items I'd like to purchase are an array of cream blushers because I only own one which is from Topshop and I really like the effect it gives. I have no aversion to shimmery blushes in fact I adore them! Sometimes I feel my skin can look a bit flat and blah because I tend to wear a lot of foundation and concealer to cover my icky skin but, I find that a little shimmer awakens it a little. I tend not to reach for matte blushers a lot but when I do it's always Unrequited from Illamasqua. This looks mostly untouched but I've used this so many times, it's ridiculously pigmented I barely need to touch my brush to the product and I have enough. Blushers are my absolute favourite make up item I think!
My summer make up is simply not complete without a bright lip! Whether it's pink, peach or coral, matte or glossy if it's bright I'll wear it! My favourite lipstick of the moment is peachy pink by Barry M & my favourite gloss is fresh squeezed by Benefit.

Todays Outfit, Presents from Australia & Some Good News!

Something very unexpected happened this week; I found a job well, the job kind of found me! The other week I went for an interview & unfortunately I was unsuccessful, but they passed my details on to the manager of another store who is part of the same retail group and before I could say 'what's going on?' I was offered the job! So, starting on the 19th I am officially a sales assistant for a fashion concession in a department store! Unfortunately for my bank balance, the floor below mine is full of cosmetics; MAC, Benefit, YSL, Clarins etc, I wonder how long I'll be able to resist that for?

The same day I was offered the job a lovely package arrived for me from Australia from the gorgeous Tennille! Inside was some super cute jewellery, a nail polish that's perfect for the summer, a lipgloss that smells divine & an amazing blush from Modelista. I am forever jealous of those of you that can get your hands on Modelista because I adore their products & the packaging is amazing!

My make up collection had outgrown my make up storage long ago so I decided to treat myself to these beautiful drawers from W.H Smith. They were in the sale for something like £7 each so I thought I'd pick up 2 so I have room to expand because lets face it, that's inevitable!
Today was hopefully my last ever trip to the job centre, oh how I hate that place. I'm pretty sure I'm one of the few people that go to my local branch who hasn't recently got out of prison. Needless to say I feel pretty intimidated when I go there especially because they all like to congregate outside the doors for some reason, thank the lord for the security guards! If you're ever thinking of dropping out of University I implore you find yourself a job before hand, no matter how awful your course is because the job centre is no fun, especially in a recession!

This is what my face looks like today, silly expression and specs galore!

♥ Revlon ColorStay.
♥ Benefit Boi-ing & Erase Paste.
♥ Modelista Blush.
♥ ELF Mascara.
♥ Revlon Pink Pout Lipstick.
♥ Alva Lipgloss.

Even though the weather is miserable here today I thought I'd rock the bright floral look anyway! Excuse my weird pose here, my hips look blimmin' ginormous, and although they are, they're not THAT big!

♥ Floral Dress - Peacocks.
♥ Purple Cardi - George at Asda.

Getting Crafty!

There's something very satisfying about making things; I could literally sit for hours cutting pictures from magazines and sticking them on to a mood board or making greetings cards, but my latest addiction is jewellery! It started with an Alice in Wonderland necklace & ring and I've become a teeny bit obsessed.

To experienced jewellery designers I'm sure these are nothing, after all, essentially all I did is stick something on to something else - hardly taxing, but never the less, I'm still very proud of them. And I didn't stick my fingers together or to the table - yes I am
that clumsy!
These gorgeous charms with peachy pink coloured roses on them make the most perfect little stud earrings to wear in the summer, I adore them! Studs are my favourite type of earring to wear because hoop/disc ones never seem to hang the same on each side - either my piercings aren't equal (very possible, don't get your ears pierced in a hairdressers!) or my ears are wonky (also very possible!). Either way, studs are nice and they don't get tangled up in my hair!
compass ring
I've had this tiny little compass charm for a wee while now and I love it so much so I wanted to put it to good use. My favourite items of jewellery at the moment are rings and so hey presto, my new ring was born! It's quite dainty which I love and the best part is, the little compass actually works too, how cute!
Have you ever made your own jewellery? What do you think of my first attempts?

Sunshine and Pretty Dresses!

It reached 25 degrees today in my little part of the world & to me, that's pretty damn warm. I don't cope well in the heat, I like to complain to anyone that will listen that I'm too hot and I consume my weight in ice lollies each day. However, there is one good thing about summer, apart from the yummy ice lollies, and that's the chance to wear pretty floaty dresses everyday, yay!
♥ Revlon ColorStay.
♥ Benefit Boi-ing & Erase Paste.
♥ Modelista Blush.
♥ Alva Rose Lip gloss.

illamasqua bronx
♥ Shimmery beige colour from the Sleek Storm Palette.
♥ Illamasqua Bronx.
♥ Rimmel Sexy Curves Mascara (Ick, hate this!)

I'd like you to meet my most favourite dress in the world, I've had it for a few years now & it's barely been worn because I'm terrified that I'll drop something on it and it'll get ruined. This is my first attempt at taking a full outfit picture so you'll have to excuse my strange face!

outfit of the day
♥ Jasmine Guinness Fusion for Oli Dress.
♥ White cropped cardi - New Look.
♥ Pearl necklace.

This dress is so very 50's in its shape with a sweetheart neckline & is the type of dress that I feel suits my body shape the most as I have a tiny waist and ginormous hips (which I happen to be very proud of)! It's fitted at the top and around the waist before flowing out over the hips, it's my perfect dress! One day I will have to purchase one of everything from Dolly Dagger & Vivienne of Holloway because their items are ridiculously pretty & I need them in my life! ♥

Review: Naked Orange & Honey Hand and Body Lotion.

honey and orange
I feel like I start out every post that mentions one of the products from the Naked range by saying 'so you all know how much I love Naked products' but it's true, I do! I was lucky enough to receive this from Naked's lovely PR team to review and I actually think this is one of the strongest products from the range that I have tried so far. I'll start by saying the packaging is great! It's a really convenient and hygienic bottle with a pump that dispenses just the right amount of product; the last thing you need is to end up with a ridiculous amount of cream that ends up going to waste when you just want to quickly moisturise your hands.

Naked say: "Orange oil contains skin nourishing vitamin C whilst moisturising Manuka honey is renowned for its healing qualities. This is just perfect for Domestic Goddesses who refuse to wear the rubber gloves and as a light, moisturising treat for the rest of your body.

honey and orange
This smells like honey, so if you don't like honey scented things then you're not going to like this (stating the obvious), but I adore it. It takes me back to the days where my mum would take me for picnics in the park during summer and I'd always have a honey sandwich; I had a sweet tooth for sure! It's not overpowering in any way and my skin is left with a soft & delicate honey scent for quite a few hours after application which I think is lovely.

The Naked website says that Manuka Honey is believed to be the honey with the best anti-bacterial and healing qualities and it only available from New Zealand. Now I have no idea if it does have the best healing qualities but I'd say that it's an impressive product. After shaving, my legs used to be sore and irritated beyond belief and I mentioned this a little in my review on the Naked Salt Scrub, but, since I've started using the scrub in conjunction with this lotion my legs haven't been sore at all after shaving. That was something I wasn't expecting but I'm very happy that awful soreness has been banished!

honey and orange
In terms of consistency I'd describe it as a thick lotion; it's not heavy like a body butter and it's not a really watery type lotion which I find difficult to apply. It absorbs almost instantly into the skin but offers just the right amount of moisture which I think makes this perfect for the summer. For most of the year I'd say that I have normal to dry skin and I would happily use this throughout the year perhaps only needing something a little heavier in the coldest winter months.

My mum has been suffering with very dry hands recently and this really has worked wonders in such a short space of time so I shall be popping one of these beauties into the birthday basket I'm making for her.

A little definitely goes a long way with this product and I only need 4 or 5 pumps to moisturise my entire body, so, I think this bottle will last me at least 3 months with almost daily use. Considering this retails for only £3.99 for 25oml I'd say that's pretty amazing value for money. I will be repurchasing over & over again without a shadow of doubt!

You can purchase Naked products from the Naked website, the Boots website or in most Boots stores.
