I'm not sure what it is about costume jewellery, but I just can't seem to resist it especially if it's super cheap. Honestly, the jewellery section of ASOS gets me every time & I've actually had to stop looking at it. Even though I know that the pieces probably won't last very long with regular wear, I just can't seem to help myself.
Reading through some blog posts you lovelies did on the gifts you received for Christmas I spotted a lot of gorgeous pieces of jewellery and it's definitely inspired me to make more considered jewellery purchases. I'm not planning on turning my back on these pretty and affordable gems just yet, but I'd love to have a few more grown-up pieces that I know will last me a lifetime.
Does pretty costume jewellery tempt you as well or do you prefer to invest in high quality pieces?
xoxo
I have a few investment pieces from Links of London, Tiffany, Love Links etc but I love cheaper costume jewellery because it's so inexpensive to buy as you need according to your outfit. Disney Couture is always a favourite...it's so lighthearted and fun!

yay for cheap jewellery (:!xx
ReplyDeleteI'm absolutely mad for costume jewellery! It also sells really well at car boots - people are always asking for it (:
ReplyDeleteOh I love every single piece you've photographed there. I tend to not buy a lot of jewellery because I buy it and then never wear it, but I do prefer costume jewellery because I lose EVERYTHING. It's horrendous and I'm so scared that if I get married or whatever I'm gonna lose my wedding ring! My parents bought me a white gold and diamond ring for my birthday one year and I absolutely loved it. I was so so careful with it but yeah... like everything else, i've lost it, so it's just not worth it for me to buy expensive things. Maybe I should 'look after possessions more' as a new years resolution.
ReplyDeletebeautifulall!love pearls!
ReplyDeleteI don't actually like most 'grown up, expensive' jewellery! A nice gold bangle, necklace and a few rings are all I have. I think the most expensive piece I'll own will be my engagement/wedding ring! lol I'd be scared wearing something expensive all the time though! xx
ReplyDeleteWow love all these pieces, I really like costume jewellery because you can use it to liven up an outfit in so many ways :-) x

As long as it's pretty it's tempting!I've seen high quality pieces imitating the 'costume' jewellery! As well as not that expensive ones that look way too expensive.
ReplyDeleteYou can find some treasures on ebay too!

Great collection! I LOVE costume jewelry, but it can be a challenge sometimes to find pieces that look pretty without looking gaudy.
ReplyDeletelove that peace ring... my collection isnt quite as big as yours yet, but its on its way :) x
ReplyDeleteI adore big rings, especially ones with brightly coloured stones. God bless Primark lol
ReplyDeleteI like all kinds of jewellery, since getting engaged though I've worn less costume jewellery rings, they just don't seem to go as well. My ring is Tiffany and I think it's the most precious thing I've ever owned! I grew up with lots of gold jewellery from Spain (had my ears pierced at 2 months old!) so I always wear a pair of gold pearl earrings. I don't have a nice quality everyday necklace though so I tend to have fun with them! I love kitsch necklaces.
ReplyDeleteoh I love your collection of jewellery! It is so good to have a big collection! I'm very much in to kitsch jewellery and vintage pieces although I do like to save for some really nice pieces too.... since I got married, things seem to clash with my wedding rings so I have to think more about what I wear/buy x
ReplyDeleteI'm addicted to buying anything that sparkles, especially if it's from Accessorize!

I'm such a magpie for costume jewellery!
ReplyDeleteYou have such a gorgeous collection of costume jewellery! (: I have a penchant for sparkly jewellery, and tend to wear lots of it all at once, although that is probably a huge fashion no-no! xxx
ReplyDeleteI used to own so much costume jewellery...bangles, rings, beads, you name it! I was mad for it, but I must admit I have become quite partial to wearing just silver now (boring old me)
ReplyDeleteI love seeing costume jewellery, I think it makes for great decoration on jewellery displays etc xx
I'm a complete magpie, if it sparkles I want it! I realised yesterday how diverse my jewellery collection is, although my favourite bits seem to be sentimental, vintage, of ethnic/tribal, I suppose anything that looks like it has some history to it!

You have a lovely collection of jewellery, I love the pearl earrings.
ReplyDeleteI have a massive collection, a bit too much really. I probably don't know what I actually have! Im just drawn to anything that shimmers and sparkles!
I know what you mean about expensive jewellery,Im a little in love with Tiffany! I have a few pieces for gifts and I love them but sometimes im too scared to wear them because they hold such sentimental value. Thats why I think costume jewellery is brilliant because although its upsetting when you lose your favourite piece, I dont think its as bad as losing a Tiffany piece.
Primark does some amazing bits and pieces, so cheap too!
Just found your blog, now following :)

I am definitely a costume jewellery girl. I'm always losing things so just can't trust myself with the real deal. Your collection is so enviable, love the red bow earings. x
ReplyDeleteI don't really like little pieces, a diamond necklace- however lovely, would take back seat over my barbie necklace.
ReplyDeleteJewellery gets me too, again & again. It's cheap (ish) and so easy just to grab a ring or a necklace, I love it so much. I love how it can change an outfit totally, and dress things up or down x
I love cheap jewellery! It's so much more quirky, I think because you know it's not an ~investment piece~ so you can have more fun with it, take more risks.
ReplyDeleteI was bought some Tiffany earrings last year and hated them, they were boring silver globes and I couldn't understand why anyone would spend a hundred quid on them!
Anyway, it's all lovely, I love that birdie ring!
costume jewelry all the way. it's cheap, and you won't regret buying it. if you do regret it, so what? it cost maybe a pound and will break soon anyway! but i am a jewelry hoarder anyways, so anything goes for me! <3
ReplyDeletei got some 'grown up' jewellery for my 21st, and to be honest it just sits in a drawer along with all my other costume jewellery! Ive ended up just treating them all as 'equals' haha. the thought of loosing either the cheaper or more expensive pieces when i was out and about makes me sad :( xx
ReplyDeleteI think I only have two pieces of 'proper' jewellery, the rest are cheaper bits and pieces that I've picked up online or from topshop etc! I tend to mis-place things so I always worry I'll loose expensive things! Love the look of your collection :)
ReplyDeletejennie i'm so jealous of your jewellery collection! x
ReplyDeleteI love the sparkles! Especially the bird ring!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment on my blog :)
You've got some beautiful pieces. I tend to go for simple pieces of jewellery, but I love how costume jewellery can brighten up an outfit so I'm hoping to buy more this year x
ReplyDeletemaking cheap costume jewellerey myself, i know my answer is going to be biased, but i love any piece which is attractive, doesn't matter about price. you have a lovely collection.
