MAC Creme Cup Lipstick. (£14) |
It is worth pointing out that although I am quite fair, I'm also very yellow toned and on my complexion Creme Cup looks a lot warmer in tone than I was expecting and also a lot more nude; in fact on my lips it's quite a way off from the blue toned pink shade described by MAC. It just goes to show how much a colour can vary on different skin tones! Although I was super disappointed with this at first, I have actually grown to quite like how it looks although I would prefer it to be a little more pink because quite a lot of the time I feel it slightly washes me out. The formulation is nice but I'm not in love with it and I much prefer the Lustre formulations from MAC which feel much creamier, glossier and almost lighter on my lips for some reason.
As always the vanilla scent of MAC lipsticks never fails to impress and the packaging is super sleek and lovely. Creme Cup is a very safe everyday lipstick shade and although I'm not totally head over heels in love with it, I am glad that I have it in my collection and I do think it's a colour that would suit a lot of different people. A major downside for me is that MAC lipsticks are now a whopping £14, which I must say, I think is a little steep. I'm happy to invest a few extra pennies in a lipstick that's a unique colour but I don't think I would be so willing to part with £14 for this shade again. I really think highstreet brands have some wonderful lipsticks in their collections, my favourite highstreet light pinky nudes come from brands like Revlon, their ColorBurst lipstick line is fabulous and Beehive from 17 cosmetics is a really beautiful shade with a super creamy formula for under £5.
Have you ever tried Creme Cup before?
What is your all time favourite MAC lipstick shade? I'm interested in trying out a few more!
And if you're not into MAC, what is your favourite lipstick from any other brand?
xoxo
I have actually never owned a Mac lipstick somehow, in fact lipstick and gloss in general are a massive gap in my tiny makeup collection - whenever I see you post on it I always want to run out and purchase a few :-)
ReplyDeleteI like how this shade looks on you!
Jem xXx
MAC lipsticks are nice, but so expensive! Revlon is my favourite brand for sure! xo
DeleteI love that shade. I've heard a lot about it, like you, I think i need to get my hands on it too.
ReplyDeleteIt is lovely, definitely glad to have it in my collection xo
DeleteI've never tried this lipstick before (or any Mac shades actually) but it is very pretty, I have an Avon lipstick that's very similar to it actually. It suits you x
ReplyDeleteSirens and Bells
It's definitely one of those shades that's not difficult to find in another brand which is good, it's nice to have some more affordable options! xo
DeleteI've seen so many people rave about Creme Cup but have yet to try it myself, it is such a gorgeous shade I know I won't be disappointed when I do get my grubby paws on it.

It's really quite lovely, not my favourite but a nice easy shade! xo
DeleteCreme Cup is one of the only MAC lipsticks I have and I think its pretty 'meh' as well. Certainly not worth the price tag. And I think I must be the only person in the world who doesn't like the smell! They don't smell of vanilla to me, they smell like the inside of new cars which I HATE! xx
ReplyDeleteYeah, it's really nothing hugely special! Ooh really? I think thy smell super lovely! Xo
DeleteI haven't tried any Mac lippies before but Creme Cup was one of those I really wanted to try because of the cult following behind it but after reading this post I think I'll have to pass. If you a much paler girl than me finds that it washes you out well a tanned/olive me will just have to say no. I just don't think it'll look right. So thanks Jennie for saving me some serious moolah. :)
ReplyDeleteMy all time favourite lipstick is one from 17 Mirrorshine range in Belle. Oh how I love that lipstick so much. :)
It's nothing all that special, very dupeable! Ooh I keep meaning to look at that shade in boots, I've heard lots of good things about it! Xo
DeleteI have this shade and I really like it. However, I do think its a bit ridiculous that MAC have put up their prices yet again. I'm pretty sure they did it just before xmas.
ReplyDeleteI know, I thought £13.50 was a high enough price but at this rate they'll be £15 soon which is crazy! xo
Delete£14!!!!!!!! That is absolutely insane. When I first bought a lippy from MAC it was only £12.50 and that was like 2 or 3 years ago, jesus blimmin' christ!!
ReplyDeleteAnyhooo, aside from that:P
This colour actually really suits you, I have it myself and find its such a lovely warm colour, lovely for day to day wear.

I know, it's insane! Aww thank you! xo
DeleteIt is a really lovely colour (and I like the name!) But I agree a bit too much when there's just as nice ones on the high street. I like 17 for lipsticks myself!

Me too! xo
DeleteI really want creme cup - I almost have enough empties to purchase it. I have shy girl which is lovely! Also Sleek lipsticks are great and they have a good range of shades xx
ReplyDeleteYay, it's always a happy moment having enough empties! I'm really lusting over Shy Girl! xo
DeleteThis has been on my wishlist for an age, but seems to be one of those products I just never actually get around to buying. I'm always a little bit dubious about nudes, as they tend to look great on other people, but with me, it's a very fine line between a pretty shade and corpse lips. This one actually looks pinker on you than I was expecting, but maybe it's just the light in the photos - my lips never look the colour they actually are (or that I'm wearing) in photos.
ReplyDeleteIt really suits you though!

It's fairly pink but definitely more nude on my complexion. I always try to get the colour balance in photos as accurate as possible. xo
DeleteThink this is a lovely colour but agree that there are ones just as nice a lot cheaper. Sounds nice with the vanilla scent though!

DeleteI love Creme Cup so nice for everyday, i agree. But im gutted the price is creeping up!x
ReplyDeleteAhh I know, if they keep increasing the price they're going to be SO expensive soon! xo
DeleteSuch a beautiful shade. Definitely adding it to my MAC wishlist! haha! My favourite shade would have to be either girl about town or vegas volts - I like 'em bright! :)
ReplyDeletexx
I definitely want Girl About Town in my life sometime soon, it looks stunning! xo
Deleteamazing shade!
ReplyDeleteI'd looking for a lipstick from MAC which's not drying out the lips.

DeleteThat colour looks laaaavly on u xx
ReplyDeleteThank you beautiful! xo
DeleteI am a brunette with somewhat pigmented lips. Sadly this turned lavender on me!
ReplyDeleteOh that's a shame! Xo
DeleteThis looks gorgeous on you! I used to own this, but swapped it on MakeupAlley. I'm into organic/natural lipsticks and lipglosses, but I just bought a MAC lipstick in Impressive. A pinky plum for autumn and I think it's just okay. Haven't found a brand or colour that I just love yet! I hope soon :)
