Review: Shopcade.

For the past few weeks I've been trying out a new website called Shopcade, which is described as:
'a social shopping application on Facebook that connects people to shop and recommend products together and get rewarded for it. You can shop trending products recommended by your friends and people you trust, as well as become a trendsetter by recommending products you love. Whenever you buy via others Shopcades, or others buy via yours, you both get rewarded (O, with real cash!)'
My first negative point is that you have to link it to your Facebook page, I would much rather be able to link to my Twitter account because I'm not a heavy Facebook user & I don't have many 'friends' added to my account. Whether this is something they're looking to add in the future I'm not sure, but for now I feel like one of the main unique selling points of the website isn't really applicable to me.

It has a distinct Pinterest feel about it, it's easy to create collections and add products to your personal Shopcade page and there are so many products to look through that it's difficult to know where to start in the beginning. It's not all beauty & fashion, there are a lot of lifestyle products there too amongst many others. Unlike Pinterest though you cannot currently add products to your Shopcade page from other websites, you can only look through items that are already on the Shopcade website itself. This can be annoying if the item you want to add isn't available, but I have been told that this is a feature they're looking to add in the future and I think this will make the site much more appealing.

I have tried to get into Pinterest before, I have an account, but I hardly ever find myself logging on so I was interested to see if I'd like Shopcade and how much I'd really use it. I surprised myself by updating my page on an almost daily basis, I'm not quite sure what makes Shopcade different, but I like it. It's definitely not the 'cash rewards' element because my earnings sit at £0.00 and I don't think that will change any time soon, because like I said, my Facebook account is barely active, but I imagine if you and your friends regularly purchased things through each others Shopcade accounts the pennies might start to add up.

Layout wise there's something about it that's not quite as neat and tidy as Pinterest or Tumblr but I kind of like that about it. Some of the categories are a little haphazard and some of the products are a little bizarre but it all adds to the charm!  I love the little Shopcade character and I like that you can customise it and change the background image on your Shopcade page. Pretty much everything is there to make this website a huge success, I think a few things need to be worked on or added to, but it's super user friendly and adding things to your boards can get a little addictive! I've already been getting some great Christmas present ideas (yes it's nearing that time of year again already!) as well as finding a whole host of beautiful home decor items I would love to add to mine and my boyfriend's home.

Have you come across Shopcade before?
Do you have an account?
