August 2012 GlossyBox* (£12.95) |
The stand out product for me this month has to be the Emite Eyelash Curlers. These have been developed with the help of professional make up artists and have a special curved design to suit all eye shapes without touching the rest of your eye make up. At around £20 these certainly aren't cheap and I'm not convinced they're that much better than the cheap curlers I had been using just yet, but we'll see! The Tresemme Platinum Strength Concentrated Treatment Shot is something I'm going to give to my mama because I think it will suit her hair type much more, these retail for £1.49 each.
The Jelly Pong Pong 2-in-1 Eyeliner & Shadow is something that I know I won't use simply because I rarely wear eyeshadow or liner. It feels quite nice, it seems to glide on well and the colour is a beautiful dirty grey-green shade, it's just not a product for me. These retail for £10.50. The Oceane Make Up Remover Pen isn't currently available in the UK so I'm not sure how much it retails for, but it seems like a nice product. I'm not sure how much use I'll get out of it but it could be good for tidying up any bright lip colour smudges. The last product in my box this month is a sample of Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy Noir perfume. I still can't say I'm a fan of these little perfume samples but I actually quite like the scent, perhaps not enough to go out and purchase the full size, but it's nice to have & it's one I'll keep in my bag.
Are you subscribed to GlossyBox?
What do you think of this month's box?
xoxo
From looking at these boxes, I'm quite glad I unsubscribed - so bored of seeing Jelly Pong Pong when they're supposed to be for new products! The eyelash curlers look interesting though :) xx

Definitely not the best box! xo
DeleteI don't mind perfume samples but I always find they're not quite enough for 2 full applications... you can have an inital spritz, maybe another before going out then there isn't enough for the second day and I end up using as an expensive room spray!

I like keeping them in my bag for emergencies! xo
DeleteThe makeup remover pen sounds great! I'd really want to subscribe to GlossyBox!

xx
I think it's great if you have a few spare pennies every month! xo
DeleteI'd be pretty disappointed with this, I thought Glossybox was meant to be for luxury brands!? Tresemme certainly aren't luxury, and Jelly Pong Pong seem to be popping up every other month as well. The make-up remover pen sounds interested, although I'd be concerned about the hygiene aspect of it :/
ReplyDeleteJess xo
I was very happy with it, as 4 of the products were full sized, last time I got 3 great full size and alterna hair sample I don't mind the tresemme as it has had great reviews, the make up remover pen is not available in UK, and hygiene wise it comes with refresh heads
Delete@Jess - I think it's not so much for luxury brands anymore, just for all things beauty in general. Definitely not the best box this month, hopefully next will be better! xo
Delete@Sacha - That's so good that you were very happy! It's definitely not a terrible box, just not one of the best in my opinion x
DeleteI was thinking of subscribing for the August box when I read it was to do with 'highflyers' - it sounded interesting. I'm glad I didn't subscribe now though, the only thing in there that looks good is the eyelash curlers.

They are lovely, I'm not sure if they're worth the price tag quite yet but they were certainly my favourite item in the box <3
DeleteI received mine on Saturday! Out of the 5 products we got 4 of the same! I didn't get the perfume which I have to say I don't mind because I'm not Juicy Coutures biggest fan! Instead I got a sample size of Urban Veda skin care range! My task today is to do a post on my box which hopefully will be out tomorrow :P

Ooh I'm excited to see! xo
DeleteI was going to say that the eyelash curlers look super swish and sleek but if they aren't much better than cheap versions, I don't think I'd be too keen! xxx
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure I can really tell a difference hehe xo
DeleteI received my box on Saturday, got the lash curlers, perfume sample, jelly pong pong in a lilac shade, the remover pen and philosophy cleanser. Not the best box as I won't use the curlers or the jelly pong pong as I don't really like the shade!
ReplyDeletewww.oneblankblog.blogspot.co.uk
Aww that's such a shame, I hope you like the other items! xo
DeleteI used to have a subscription to Glossybox and a few others, but I just could not keep up, I really like some of these items, although I think sometimes I do get the best for my money with online beauty deals. :) Thanks for sharing. /Madison
ReplyDeleteThank you for reading sweet <3
DeleteI got the eye-lash curler in the Swedish Glossybox two months ago, I've liked it, but I'm not sure it's that much better than the cheap ones. But it's good enough :) I'm not that picky!
ReplyDeleteIt does the job & that's good enough for me! :) xo
DeleteOooh Glossybox always looks so tempting, may have to subscribe soon. Btw mentioned you in my latest post :)
ReplyDeletedontcrycowboy
Aww thank you sweet! Xo
DeleteThey keep having Jelly Pong Pong, it's quite boring. I'm glad I didn't renew my subscription! They've also shoved that sample in, in the past as well, and I'm pretty sure you could get it free at one point :/ They repeat stuff a lot. Shame really. The seasonal boxes seem to be the best!

This was one of their not-so-good boxes I think! xo
DeleteI cancelled my GB about a year ago. This box doesn't look great. I get a little sad when I see small perfume samples that you could get from a counter if you wanted. The eyelash curlers look good - maybe because they are black & swish. I bought some from Muji for £4 and they're amazing
ReplyDeleteIf GB are planning some big upcoming boxes I'd be excited to see them
I'm excited too, fingers crossed they've got some exciting plans! xo
DeleteThe curlers look fab, but I think Birchbox wins this month ;) xx
ReplyDeleteI think they do! xo
DeleteI'm like you I was a bit nonplussed by this months box, we got the same except I got a very small sample of Olay Regenerist in place of the Juicy Couture perfume. I have to say the eyelash curlers are fab but I have yet to try out the other items x
ReplyDeleteNot one of their best boxes, that's for sure! Xo
DeleteI got the same as you apart from I didn't get the perfume sample. Instead I got a small tube of Olay Regenerist, same as we've had in about 4 boxes so far this year. Yawn...
ReplyDeleteAhh such a shame! xo
DeleteSounds like a great box, awesome curlers =) I love eyeliner but I just dont think I would love a greeny liner, not for me!
ReplyDeleteIt's not the nicest colour in the world! xo
DeleteI received my box today, and personally I am very happy with it, all products in there apart from Olay cream were full sized products, which would cost over or almost ( no price on make up remover pen as not available here) £40 !! If you don't want perfume samples in your box you can choose not to in your profile! The colours your are sent according to your profile, and the fact these are supposed to be samples most of the time the fact people complain when there are sample size is really not fair this box is really only £10 per box,
ReplyDeleteAhh I don't have a profile, GlossyBox are kind enough to send me a box to review. I'm certainly not complaining about sample sized products, I'm very aware it is a sample service and I've been very supportive of the service for a really long time, I think it's a great way to try new things! I have no expectations each month, and pop these posts up just in case anyone would like to know what I think. I judge how good or bad a particular box is based on previous boxes & I just think that this wasn't one of the best.
Deletei still have yet to jump on the box subscription bandwagon, but reading about everyone's monthly boxes is one my faves because i get to learn about all the new things out there. i'm excited to see what glossybox has in store for the next few months :) thanks for sharing!

Me too, I love reading these kinds of posts and I love writing them! <3 xo
DeleteI was just thinking how stupid a make up remover pen sounded like and then you made it so clear to me... That could actually be really useful. Lol For the lips or to fix that gel eyeliner! Thanks for sharing these! xx
ReplyDeletewww.ferdies-place.blogspot.com
Absolutely! I haven't used it yet because I keep forgetting I have it, but for a bright lip or liner issues it could be super useful! xo
DeleteFAB products! <3 best beauty haul?
ReplyDeleteCarla Cee
:)
DeleteI got the same but instead of the tressemme I got a eucerine balm for dry and sensitive skin which I love. The pen is great for when you put on mascara and u get dots from where it touches ur face.
ReplyDeleteOoh that sounds lovely! xo
DeleteI agree with what you said about this box, its not particularly exciting new products but some of them do look interesting. Will be interesting to know if this eyelash curler is any better than the hyped Shu Uemura lash curler which is the same price!
ReplyDeleteEloise | simplynaturale xo
I've always wondered what was so special about the Shu lash curler, everyone seems to absolutely love it so it must be worth the pennies! xo
DeleteI love the Juicy Perfume. I can't believe they gave such a small sample though. -Hanna Lei
ReplyDeleteIt was quite nice to be able to try it though! xo
DeleteI thought this month's glossybox was a little disappointing but I thoroughly enjoyed the eyelash curlers so stick with them! I've tried them quite a few times and they really add a nice natural looking curl to your lashes.
ReplyDeleteI'd love it if you took a look at my blog as I'm only just starting out and love your beauty posts! - www.anauburnaccessory.com
