Clinique Superprimer Face Primer Colour Corrects Redness* (£20.00 / €27.00) |
There are six different versions in the Superprimer range including one universal and five others that promise to correct either redness, sallowness, discolouration or dullness. This is one of those ranges where there's sure to be something for everyone. Being particularly fair & with temperamental areas, (mainly my cheeks and chin) one of my main skin concerns is redness. Many years ago I remember having a moisturiser that claimed to help with redness, it was bright green in colour and even when properly blended in made me look like I was about to be violently sick - I'm VERY pleased to report that this Clinique Primer does NOT do that at all.
I've been applying a small, just larger than a pea sized, amount after my moisturiser mainly concentrating on my cheeks and chin but also blending over the rest of my face too. Instead of the bright green shade I was expecting, it's actually a pretty light yellow with a hint of green that blends seamlessly into my skin leaving no out-of-the-ordinary-I'm-not-feeling-well colour behind. It tones down the redness in my cheeks with ease allowing me to go a little easier on the concealer after I've applied my foundation - perfect.
It's completely oil free and I had feared it may leave my already pretty dry skin feeling tight and highlight dry patches but instead it smooths everything over, gives a soft matte but incredibly silky feeling to my skin and provides a perfect base for the rest of my make up allowing my foundation to glide on a lot easier than it usually does. It wears very nicely thoughout the day easily lasting a full work day, the bus ride home and a sneaky glass of wine with the girls after a particularly stressful day without drying out my skin. It hasn't necessarily made my foundation last any longer throughout the day, but I don't think I can hold that against it when it already does so much; after all I wouldn't expect it to mow the lawn and make me a cup of tea either, however handy that would be!

I agree, a really great brand! xo
DeleteI've seen these in stores and was going to get the one for redness but my skin has been behaving really well lately. Might revisit these when the winter comes and all goes to hell haha.
ReplyDeleteDannielle | Chic-a-DeeDee
Haha mine is temperamental in the winter too! I think I'll be investing in the one that helps dullness in a month or so! xo
DeleteI really wanna try these and this is the one I'd pick for myself I think. Clinique often breaks me out though so might pop into the store and test it out first. Great review though, it's really helpull to know it worked for you x

I really love this, I'm not sure how it works because the colour isn't super green, but it's been saving on concealer that's for sure! xo

Aww <3
DeleteI never tried that primer, even though I have redness on my face, Clinique products always seems to burn my skin \:
ReplyDeleteI love Benefit's Porefessional though (:
Aww that's a shame! xo
DeleteI really love the idea of these primers! I think £20 is such a reasonable price for a primer, especially from a brand like Clinique! I'd much prefer one of these over the Benefit Porefessional xx
ReplyDeleteGemma | Miss Makeup Magpie
I agree, a really fair price for something you don't have to use much of each time. I think this tube will last for such a long time! xo
DeleteOoh this sounds lovely! I've never tried this primer before but I do think it's on the pricey side for a primer when you can pick up other wonderful primers for under £12....I quite like Loreal and Revlon's primer as they have lovely textures! :)

I think £20 for a higher end product is quite reasonable though! <3
DeleteI don't own a primer - massive fail aha! I've only recently started getting interested in them and I do already really like Clinique as a brand so maybe this could be the one! My skin is so ridiculously temperamental though, I'm always a bit worried that it will react badly. xxx
ReplyDeleteMine is the same, definitely ask for a sample if you're near a counter! xo
DeleteI tend to just wear primer these days so something like this seems like such a good idea, I get really bad rosy cheeks so colour correction would be perfect- price isn't too bad either!xo
ReplyDeleteI agree, I think it's a really fair price! xo
DeleteI wear primers off and on, but this looks like something worth trying. Will have to save some pennies for it :)

I agree, I can't believe it took me so long to get into them! xo
DeleteOmg! I loved the review.... I have ordered a peach tube because my major concern is the acne scars and pigmentation... But is there any primer for pores apart from benefit porefessional?
