Yesterday I let myself feel sad. I sat in silence until the silence became too loud to think coherent thoughts. I scribbled some pretentious drivel in my notebook about the fragility of life and the like. I watched some films I know make me cry and then I watched one that makes me smile. I listened to Asleep by The Smiths on repeat while staring up at the ceiling for a little while. I did some damage to my credit card by shopping online, which helped even though I'm certain I'll return it all when it arrives. I read the first Harry Potter book from cover to cover, partly because it's a world I like to retreat to sometimes and partly because I have to refer to it in my essay that's due later this week but haven't started yet. And then I went to sleep, for a long time.
Today my thoughts feel less foggy. Today I pick up where I left off on Saturday evening. I've lit one of my favourite NEOM candles* even though I was saving it for a cold autumn evening because it seems silly to save things, it's time to live in the moment and enjoy the present, not long for a trivial future event. I feel different. But life goes on. Today is a new day.
Love, Jennie
xoxo
I have days like that, when I just want to watch a sad film! It's good that you started the next, fresh, a new day!! No good staying in that mood! Hope you have a good day :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you lovely, you too! xo
DeleteLove your photos as always. I hope today and this week is better for you lovely.

Thank you lovely! xo
DeleteOh Jennie, I hope you're ok. I find that it can be hard to find the line between "letting myself be sad" and then "getting on"; if I don't progress to the second stage I can often find the sadness consumes me and I can't function.
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely a fine balance, it's okay to be sad sometimes <3
Deletep.s if you ever need to vent, feel free to put all of your thoughts in a letter or an email, I'll always listen xx
ReplyDeleteThank you lovely, I appreciate it <3
DeleteWhat an unusual and pretty pendant - the little hourglass is really lovely! Xx

I agree, that's a perfect way to put it! xo
DeleteI have a lot of days like that too Jennie, but I'm happy to hear you are feeling a little better now <3 I always like to retreat into Harry's world if I'm feeling worried or stressed, and somehow it is very comforting to me. I hope you are enjoying your course too! I am so sure you're going to do brilliantly, and how awesome that you get to reference Potter! I wish I had got to do a couple more essays like that. <3 xxx
ReplyDeleteIt's a very comforting place <3
DeleteThat necklace is so pretty. -Hanna Marie
ReplyDeleteI love it <3
DeleteI hope you feel better soon :)
ReplyDeletePS: I would mind reading your pretentious drivel about the fragility of life and such ^^
Thank you sweet <3
DeleteSo sorry to hear you had a bad weekend; I hope things get brighter for you soon. Letting yourself feel sad is so important, I find; it's so much better to let yourself be upset for a while instead of pretending you're OK. Asleep is the perfect song for bad days too. I hope you feel better soon and good luck with your essay xx
ReplyDeleteThank you lovely lady <3
DeleteWe all have days like this. I hope you're ok! Harry Potter can make everything better :P I remember when I first read that book it took me days and now I can read it in a few hours!

DeleteAw lots of love to you Jennie <3 Sometimes it's the little things that can really get you through & songs and films can be the best at taking you to another place for a while. So glad to hear you are feeling a bit brighter; just know we all care for you & your lovely blog & are behind you 100% <3

DeleteOof sorry things haven't been great lady. I do the same and tend to retreat into a little bubble to process before taking any action or moving on. Sometimes a little time to ourselves can make the world feel better

ReplyDeleteThank you sweet xo
DeleteStill in love with the time turner necklace, I'd be trying to re-wind times for hours, ending up wasting more time. Sometimes its okay to do nothing but think everything through, have a cry and a smile and flick through a book or two.To re-adjust and live in the present and think of all the positives coming your way. Just remember each one of us which reads your blog and comments supports you, for being you!
