W7 Candy Floss Brightening Face Powder* (£3.99) |
The similarities between W7 and Benefit products are pretty undeniable, the big difference however are the prices; Benefit boxed powders retail for £23.50 and the W7 versions are a much more purse friendly £4. Unfortunately I don't have Benefit Dandelion to directly compare the two, but I can say that I think Candy Floss is a really lovely product.
I was expecting a super light pastel pink, but once I'd opened the box and tried a little on my skin I realised that this gives a beautiful, very natural light neutral pink flush. It's exactly the kind of cheek colour I love to wear at the moment, it's neutral enough to go with any lip colour and just enough for a barely there look if that's what I fancy wearing - it's become a real staple in my collection. It has a touch of shimmer, not so much that it leaves my cheeks resembling disco-balls, but just enough to give a pretty, healthy looking sheen.
The pigmentation is good, but I do think this is one of those shades that's best suited to fair to light skin tones. I never have to worry about applying too much because it's not a super strong colour - I can apply it at 6am in an almost dark room and confidently leave the house knowing I don't look silly. The lasting power is also pretty good, it wears really nicely throughout the day and although it's perhaps not as strong at the end of the day as it was in the morning, it's definitely still there & never fades completely. I'm very impressed with this, I think budget brands have really upped their game in recent years & I love that!
Have you ever tried any W7 products?
Love, Jennie
xoxo
Sounds good especially for the price. I like to have cheaper dupes for high end products stashed in my draws at work in case I don't have the right products in my make up bag before an impromtu night out so this is a brand worth looking at.

Deletethis looks so pretty, and the name and packaging is too cute! i've never heard of W7, i wonder if it's a UK/europe only brand. i'm sure girls would go nuts over it here in hong kong if it did come to Asia!

Ooh I'm not sure, I think it might be a UK brand and I think I remember hearing something about a website coming soon! xo
DeleteOh wow! I use Dandelion every day but this is that teeny bit brighter/more coral. I definitely want to give it a go. <3

It's a super pretty shade <3
DeleteI find Benefit SO overpriced! But this looks like a great alternative - it makes you glow!
ReplyDeleteBenefit are definitely expensive, there are a few products from their line I think I'll always be happy to splurge on though. From what I can tell these W7 blushes are pretty consistently amazing throughout their range and such a bargain too! xo
DeleteThis looks soooo pretty!
ReplyDeleteI think W7 are only going to go up in the world!!

They would make lovely stocking fillers, from what I can tell the rest of their blush range is lovely too! xo
DeleteThis looks and sounds so gorgeous <3 The packaging is so pretty too :-) Just to let you know I have nominated you for the Versatile Blogger Award! xo

Thank you lovely! <3
DeleteOooh, I really like the look of this - the colour suits you beautifully - and I really don't think you can argue with that price! I really like the packaging too - they're a pain to fit into my makeup bag but I'm always breaking the little plastic cases so these suit me so much better.
ReplyDeleteOhh I'm the same! Even though cardboard packaging can tend to get a little tatty after a while, they seem to hold up pretty well! Xo
DeleteThat looks gorgeous!

DeleteThis looks like a lovely shade and such a cute box! I've never tried anything from W7, where can you get the brand?
ReplyDeleteImogen - A rendezvous with you
I think you can find it in those discount cosmetics shops that are scattered around, mine is from xtras :) xo
DeleteThis sounds so good, especially for a product that's only £4! Pretty colour too :) xx
ReplyDeleteI love a good bargain! xo
DeleteI have this and am loving it for applying in the dark at 5am, too - it's impossible to over-do and so pretty! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat review!

Thanks sweet <3
DeleteI heard about this a little while ago and wanted to try it but then I couldn't find it online! It does look lovely on you though, and it's definitely my type of shade too. I really can't afford Benefit these days, and it is a little overpriced! I think what attracts so many people to Benefit is probably the cute retro packaging. xxx
ReplyDeleteBenefit packaging is gorgeous, I know what you mean though, their products are pricey! xo
DeleteThis looks lovely! I love Benefit but have trouble bringing myself to splurge on it so this looks like a fab alternative. xxx
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a much more affordable alternative! xo
DeleteI think this is so pretty and the packaging is really nice, just like the Benefit ones! I really like w7's products, like the Africa bronzing powder is great and in a cute box like this one.

DeleteI have this very same powder and I love it! It's such a fab product for the price, and I genuinely think it's better than the Benefit Dandelion powder. I really want to try other ones from W7 now! xx

I have my eye on their Africa powder now! xo
DeleteI have this too and really like it, I'm not into strong cheek colour so this is perfect for me. I've tried a couple of other things from W7 which I like but don't use that often, I'd love to try a few more products as theyre pretty affordable x

DeleteI've only ever tried W7 nail polishes and they seem really good quality for the price, may have to venture into the powders now though. This one looks so pretty :) xx
ReplyDeleteIt's a really lovely one <3
DeleteThis looks lovely, and I definitely agree that budget or drug store make up brands have completely upped the game compared to when I started wearing make up
ReplyDeleteThey're doing so well at the moment, there are considerably less 'light foundations' that turn out to be completely orange and powdery eyeshadows! xo
DeleteI've seen this a couple of times, but never really thought of buying it. It looks quite good though, and for just £4 you can't really go wrong can you!:)

This looks like the perfect budget alternative to Benefit Dandelion! It's absolutely gorgeous on you :) I'm not sure if it would work as well for my skin tone, but I love how the pink looks against fair skin. It warms up the complexion in such a pretty, natural way. I tend to prefer blushes that aren't as pigmented anyway - they're just so much easier to slap on!
ReplyDeleteI agree - really reminds me of the benefit makeup in terms of packaging especially, and colour, but definitely much more affordable, especially if it does the job!
