Over the weekend I started reading Things The Grandchildren Should Know by Mark Oliver Everett, who is the front man of Eels. I'm only a little way in at the moment but I think this is going to be one of those autobiographical books I love a lot. He's an interesting guy that I don't know too much about other than a few things Mark has told me, but I'm looking forward to finding out a little more.
I think buying Mark an Apple TV for his birthday last year is the worst gift I've ever given him because we keep spending money renting films on iTunes! Although, I guess at least it's cheaper than going to the cinema and I don't have to listen to someone chewing popcorn loudly in my ear whilst trying desperately to see the screen over the worlds tallest man that always sits in front of me!
Before Midnight is a must-see if you liked Before Sunrise and Before Sunset - I liked it more than Before Sunset but nowhere near as much as I love Before Sunrise. I love how low key and simple they are and I don't think Julie Delpy ever ages!
The Bling Ring is one I've been waiting for what feels like forever to be released to rent on iTunes! I love Sofia Coppola and Emma Watson so it was on my must-watch list for sure. At first I thought it was just okay, but the more I think about it the more I like it, which sounds odd I know but I do love to over-think everything!
I've been listening to a lot of London Grammar, like a lot, a lot! Ambient + ethereal = perfection. And seriously, that voice! They are ridiculously talented and they make music that is very easy to be inspired by, my notebook hasn't been out of my sight over the past couple of weeks!
Admittedly I haven't left the house very much recently, only when I absolutely have to and even then I do so reluctantly. It's that time of the year & I'm in one of those moods where I just want to be at home, cosy and warm. When I have been venturing out I've been wrapping up in my new Matalan Cocoon Coat. Best £40 I've spent in a very long time and it's worth every single penny.
1. Laura's Haven 2. Wander to Wonder 3. Becka; This is my world
4. Chambray & Curls 5. Sophie in the Sticks 6. Scared Toast
Other than that it's been pretty quiet over here, we've had our fair share of sad news so we're feeling a little subdued but it's nothing a little bit of time won't fix. I was going to redesign my whole layout and I have half finished one, but instead I ended up just tweaking a few parts of my current one. I think I'm a little more attached to it than I thought. I never want it to look too professional or fancy because that's not what I'm about. It's why I keep putting off buying studio lights for my pictures, I like the slightly-off colours and occasional wonky angle. That's very me. Slightly off and a little bit wonky.
Did you have a good weekend? I hope so!
Love, Jennie

DeleteAfter seeing Lost in translation many years ago I think I would be looking forward even to a new TV advertisement directed by Sofia Copolla. And I m also in a mood for London Grammar and there is one more group I ve been loving lately, Half Moon Run, specially this song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fx3rvbuaI78. Maybe u will like it:) xx
ReplyDeleteLost in translation is probably my favourite ever film, love it! I'll definitely have a look at Half moon run, love their name! xo

It's a fun watch, nothing amazing but still worth a go! xo
Deletelove the coat in the last picture xx

DeleteOoh that song is so nice! Her voice kind of reminds me of Florence and the Machine. I watched the Bling Ring and I have to say I found it quite repetitive and boring, Emma Watson was definitely the highlight for me though and I really loved her at the very end haha.

ReplyDeleteThey do, such a bargain too! xo
DeleteWe were learning about Sofia Coppola's work in film studies so I've wanted to watch The Bling Ring because it looks quite good and I also adore Emma Watson! I love taking a little time out of my days to blog for a while, it's nice and relaxing :)

DeleteI've had my eye on a coat like that, that is doubled the price. It looks super warm and stylish at the same time..
ReplyDeletehttp://thelittlebigobsession.blogspot.co.uk
Love the style so much! xo
DeleteOk, you have some serious amazing taste... Thanks for sharing! xx
ReplyDeleteHaha thanks! xo
DeleteI'm feeling a bit of a blogger day too, I'm currently on my bed wrapped in my house coat with a hot water bottle! I'm out later though but wish I was staying in now ha. Things The Grand Children Should Know sounds very interesting and the goodreads reviews look great! You will have to let me know how it goes :) I've not read for a while other than bits here and there before I go to bed. I'm reading Lolita at the moment but finding it a very uncomfortable read, I don't see the craze that many seem to see with it!
ReplyDeleteThat's a belter of a coat too and for an awesome price. I often forget to visit Matalan as it's out the way in town but they have a fair few items I'm eyeing up on their website at the minute.
Thanks for your comment too! It's definitely a book that is worthwhile looking through!
That sounds like a lovely way to spend a morning! I've never made it all the way through Lolita, it definitely makes for uncomfortable reading in parts.
DeleteI'm the same, I looked everywhere for a coat like this but they were all crazy pricey, so glad I remembered matalan! xo
The coat looks so cozy! :)
ReplyDelete<3 I love it a lot! ox
DeleteI always find some great new music and blogs thanks to you :)x
ReplyDeleteAww yay! <3
DeleteI love Sofia Coppola, but honestly did not enjoy The bling ring.. maybe it was not her fault and it's just that I hate that whole Hollywood/media/superficial vibe..I can't stand it.. when ever I go to L.A., I stay away from that scene.. anyway... Before Midnight, I did liked.. but my favorite is still Before Sunrise.. it's just magical, I can't get over that movie..and yes! Julie Delpy is gorgeous inside and out...I'm intrigued about that book..I think I'll look for it..thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI think that was the point of it, to represent the social media i-want-it-now generation. I think she did a good job, nothing groundbreaking but it was a fun watch! <3
DeleteThat sounds a lot more fun than essay writing! Just listened to London Grammer, think I am going to have to listen to a lot more of their music as that tune was beautiful :) x
