And the award for most awkward photographs to get right ever goes to....the ones in this blog post! Three locations and many a blurred picture later, these were the best I could come up with. Please come back soon, sunshine. We all miss you! January has been a bit of a basic month for me beauty wise, nothing too fancy, just a collection of simple but very reliable products.
Good Things Blemish Control Gel Mask* ( £4.99)
If I could only use one word to sum up my feelings on this mask it would be 'yes' with several exclamation marks! I've been both a little slack on the skincare front & a bit stressed out recently and because of that I've had a few more pesky breakouts than usual. The issue I have is that my skin is quite dry, so I'm reluctant to use clay masks all the time because they can be a bit much, but they're amazing on my blemishes.
This gel mask came into my life a couple of weeks ago and it's love. It smells a little like menthol, almost like medicine you'd take if you were a bit congested (which I think is amazing), it tingles a little when I first put it on my skin (which I also love because it makes me feel like it's doing something!) and it helps to clear breakouts without leaving my skin feeling tight. It's perfect!
REN Vita Mineral Daily Supplement Moisturising Cream* (£19)
For the first half of the month this was my go-to moisturiser at night because it's beautifully hydrating and now it's feeling noticeably colder outside, I've been reaching for it a lot in the mornings too. This is a moisturiser I would describe as reliable. There's nothing overtly fancy about it, it promises to hydrate and it really delivers.
There are some beautiful ingredients including lots of anti-oxidants and vitamins to really protect the skin and keep it looking healthy. This is a truly lovely product and at under £20 it's not ridiculously priced either.
Max Factor Lash Extension Effect Mascara (£10.99)
In having a good rummage through my make up collection a few weeks ago I found this and decided to give it a go. I think it's a mascara I've tried before a really long time ago and I think this particular tube came from my mama who didn't get on with it, so she passed it over to me.
As the name suggests, this gives my lashes a lot of length and although I'm usually one that prefers a mascara to give a lot of volume, I've really been enjoying using this. Will it replace my beloved The Falsies? Probably not, but I would happily repurchase for those days when I want beautiful, long & fluttery lashes.
Love Your Skin Collagen Body Moisturising Gel* (£16.99)
I go through real phases when it comes to using body moisturiser, a lot of the time I avoid using it because, well, it's just a bit of a faff having to wait for it to sink in so my clothes don't stick uncomfortably to my skin.
I was really keen to try this moisturising gel because it's water based and as I had hoped, it sinks in pretty much instantly with no stickiness at all. It has a really delicate scent and offers enough hydration even during the depths of winter. It's a little more expensive than I would usually spend on a body product, but I do think it's well worth the investment - the bottle seems to be lasting me ages too!
Maybelline Brow Drama Sculpting Brow Mascara* (£4.99)
This little gem was inside my December GlossyBox and I had no idea I would end up loving a brow product this much! This isn't really the right colour for me but as long as I don't use too much, this helps to tame my somewhat unruly brows without making them look too done.
I adore a strong brow look on pretty much everyone other than myself. If I ever properly fill mine in I end up looking completely ridiculous, like a child who has just discovered her mum's make up bag. This is pretty much the perfect product for me and it's beyond quick to apply - it's a winner!
NARS Deep Throat Blusher (£21.50)
This has been sitting in my blush drawer for the longest time, for some reason I've barely touched it and I have no idea why because it's beautiful! It's one of the most subtle blush colours I own but I can totally build up to get the slightly stronger, more statement look that I prefer.
It's a pretty peach, with just enough pink in there so that it doesn't look really odd on my complexion, it's a real beauty and I'm so happy that I dug it out at the start of the month. It's also reminded me how much I really like NARS blushes, they're such lovely quality and they wear so nicely throughout the day.
Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Honey (£7.99)
In a bid to tear myself away from my much-loved tinted lipbalms, I've rediscovered this beauty. This is one of those lip colours that's really similar to my natural lip colour, it's just waaaaaay nicer. I love the twist up, crayon style packaging because it makes it so easy to apply and this is such a natural colour I can apply it without a mirror and not have to worry about making myself look utterly ridiculous. I think it's only a matter of time before I cave and go and check out the lacquer balms...oh gosh, don't let me!!
Are there any beauty products you've been particularly enjoying this month?
Love, Jennie

DeleteI picked up Brow Drama during a Supermarket shop (Maybelline is he only make up brand they stock) when I felt the need to buy something 'beauty' and like you I've grown to love it… great for 'no make up days' when you just want to brush, add a bit of colour and then go.
