crossbody | what's in my bag?

Warehouse Cross Body bag* (£32 £20)

My perfect small, black, simple cross body bag has proven to be incredibly illusive & it feels like I've been endlessly scrolling through various websites in my search for months. The main thing I was looking for was an adjustable strap because I have a long body and most straps are just that little bit too short. The Vivienne Westwood Divina Flap is the one I would choose above all others but honestly, it's so far out of my price range it'll have to remain a distant dream. And that's okay. It's beautiful, but the world won't suddenly stop if I never own one. Besides, I'm not sure my style is fancy enough for a piece of designer, I probably wouldn't do it justice at all. But I shall continue to admire from afar for sure.

A couple of weeks ago I was invited to a House Of Fraser event that I wasn't able to make, but they kindly allowed me to choose something from their website around the £30 mark and it turns out they carry a lot of affordable brands. I had (wrongly, it seems!) assumed, until now, that everything was higher end. I headed straight for the bag department, not really expecting to find anything, and the first one I spotted was this Warehouse beauty. It's a little bigger than I was looking for ideally but other than that it's wonderful. And what better opportunity for a little 'what's in my bag?' feature, I love these posts a ridiculous amount. What can I say? I'm nosy!

  • Books! Only small paperbacks fit inside but that's okay. I'm rereading The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald & I'm completely head over heels for Prufrock and Other Observations by T. S. Eliot so I'm in the habit of bringing it everywhere with me.
  • A notebook & pen, a must have for those moments of inspiration that I would otherwise completely forget. Those moments are a little few & far between right now, so the pages are mostly full of shopping lists. Not very exciting but practical none the less.
  • My purse, a gift from the wonderful Char! Never too old for things with bunnies on!
  • Maybelline Fit Me Powder. This has a mirror inside too, which is very handy.
  • Seventeen Stay Time concealer. It feels lighter than the Collection Lasting Perfection but has excellent coverage too. Perfect.
  • Dior lipgloss in Dormeuse* - I can't stop wearing this, it's lovely.
  • Weleda citrus deodorant. Because summer.
  • An unexpected letter from my Grandfather that I will treasure forever. I need to put it in my little box of special things to keep it safe.
  • I don't currently have a phone and after 14 years, it's actually really nice not having one. I'm less distracted and sometimes I like dropping off the radar a little bit. But I know I'll get one soon, for those times I'm stranded somewhere or something. Which never happens, but you never know, right?
Do you have a favourite bag?
Or a dream bag that you would really like to own one day?

  1. Oh my goodness my bag is like a bottomless pitt compared to your neat and tidy little compact bag. Think I need to sort it out haha ;o) x

  2. This is a beautiful little bag- the perfect size. I was happy to see The Great Gatsby in there- I'm currently reading that too. I just really enjoy that book!

It's lovely receiving letters from grandparents :)

I haven't read the Great Gatsby yet but omg I want to.

  13. Wish I could be organised enough to carry a small neatly packed bag. I carry huge bags and every so often downsize for a few days. Then frustration wins & I go back to a rummaging sized bag :)

Love that bag- cute and big enough to be practical.

I'm seriously lusting after some of Ted bakers bags.. Not hugely pricey but out if my range right now xx

  14. Gorgeous bag ! Love seeing a peek into people's purses !

  18. That looks like such an amazing copy of the Great Gatsby! I want to reread it again soon but haven't been able to squeeze it in yet this summer. That lip gloss looks amazing!

  19. So lovely! I love what's in my bag posts also, I haven't done one yet but every time I see somebody else do one I'm like "I should really get on that". Cute pattern on the notebook also! X

  20. What a gorgeous bag, House of Fraser is one of those shops I so often overlook and really need to stop it! x

  21. I've been meaning to write one of these posts for ages, I love having a nosy around other people's bags! This black one is lovely, my favourite has to be my bright green satchel from the cambridge satchel company, I got it for my 18th and its personalised with my initials :) lovely choice in books too!
    Phoebe xx

    1. They're some of my favourite posts for sure! xx

    1. I love bags I can wear with anything! xx

  24. I would really love to own one of those super fluffy bags. They're not very practical but they look awesome! Your bag is so cute. And so is your notebook, and so is your purse. Bunnies are the best! It's also interesting to see that you take books with you on the go - I really need to read the Great Gatsby! xx

  25. Oh its so amazing you are currently not using a phone. The other day I was just mentioning about how our lives are completely taken over by our phones now and how distracted we all seem.

I have been wanting to read The Great Gatsby after I watched the movie. I love T.S Eliot's works.

  26. I love your bag and wallet, they are both so cute!

  27. This bag is really lovely! I've been looking for something similar! I love all the compartments!

  28. I agree about not having a phone. Often when i go on holiday where i can't get any reception, it's so nice to 'switch off' and be un-contactable! x

  29. Oh wow, i love a whats in my bag post, im so so nosey!

  30. Such a cute bag, surprisingly can fit a lot than I would have expected in it :)

I only own two handbags - my Modalu Pippa and my Mulberry Bayswater...needless to say ever since I picked up my Bayswater from Bicester outlet last year it has been religiously attached to my arm ever since <3

I would LOVE to own a Mulberry Willow Tote or Aspinal of London Brook Street Bag.....I can dream right?! x

    Sarah @ sarahlouxo.com xx

  31. I love little, simple crossbody bags! They are pretty much the only bags I'll ever carry around. I adore your bunny purse! xxx

  32. I wish I could be "into" keeping and using a notebook and pen in my bag - there's always that charm, but my phone is a lot more convenient haha! It's surprising that you don't have a phone, but it sounds very peaceful at the same time and not being on technology 24/7.

    Also, your purse is adorable!

    xx becky // star-violet

  33. I love posts like these, I'm so nosy! Cute bag too x
