Spineless Classics Harry Potter & the Philosopher's Stone Poster* (£39.99) |
The perfect gift for any lover of literature!
When I saw the email in my inbox asking if I would like to review one of the posters in the Spineless Classics collection I did a double-take and then didn't have to think twice. I've seen these on Pinterest and in various other places online and admired them for a really long time. What put me off ordering when I first saw them? Honestly, it was the price. £40 for a poster that I hadn't ever seen in 'real life' seemed quite expensive but now that I've seen the size and the detail in person, I wouldn't hesitate to purchase one.
There are lots of titles (and various sizes) to choose from and if you don't see your favourite book on the website they'll try their best to custom make something for you. I had to go for Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone because, well because it's Harry, but I was definitely tempted by a couple of others too. It's pretty huge at 70x100 cm and looks very impressive. I haven't had the chance to go and pick up a frame for it yet so it's not been the easiest to photograph, but I hope you can see the detail and there's a photograph of it framed on a wall on the website here. The writing is totally readable, the whole novel is there on one beautifully designed page.
It's printed on a really nice quality heavyweight paper using ink that promises not to fade and it arrived in a very sturdy tube. A minimum of £2 from each Harry poster sold will be donated to Lumos. I think I'm going to get one for my Mum for Christmas, I'm torn between a couple of designs at the moment, but I think she'll love the idea as much as I do!
What do you think of Spineless Classics?

They have small versions of some designs, I think the longer works have to be bigger so they can fit it all on there <3
DeleteThis is amazing!! I've seen these too but couldn't really grasp the size of it, and like you say I didn't know what the quality would be like so was scared to fork out. It sounds wonderful though, and I think I might treat myself to one of them :) x

DeleteI used to really enjoy your blog, it used to be very unique with your lovely photography, and around 3-4 years ago I loved your outfit posts. You now only seem to blog about your free stuff, which is a bit disappointing.
ReplyDeleteI think that's a fair comment, especially at this time of the year. I really enjoy putting together my gift guide review series in the run up to Christmas but I understand that the nature of the series means there's a lot of similar posts at once. It's a bit of a balancing act; I LOVE the chance to feature some of my most favourite brands, giving them a little shout out/helping hand at this time of year but I don't want to start the series too early because I don't really want to be writing about Christmas in October, you know? It would ruin the magic a little I think.
DeleteI have tried my best to alternate them with other posts, there have been some tags that I've really enjoyed writing and my Dear... letters & to-do lists at the start of each month have become my favourite posts to write. I guess I haven't been managing to do this as well as I'd hoped to, and I can only apologise for that! It can be difficult to keep the inspiration flowing when every day feels like a bit of an endless circle of going to work, university essays, house renovation, and sleep.
I stopped my outfit series because I put on some weight after quite a sad time in my life, and I couldn't take the 'oh you look a bit fat here' comments. I mean the comments were true but it got to the point where I felt sick when it came to reading them and for something that's supposed to be a fun hobby and a place I can spend time forgetting about everyday things, I didn't really want to put myself through that anymore.
I've made a conscious decision to accept very few samples now, but there's a bit of a backlog that I have promised to review that I'm slowly making my way through. I don't like to go back on promises, especially when I think the things are really great and deserve a mention. Owning a home that needs a lot of work has meant that I've had very little disposable income and I admit I thought that I needed to accept more things in order to have enough content to write about because I'm not able to go to Boots and buy a few new lipsticks, or have a little ASOS spree like I could a few years ago. During my early twenties I've changed so much and I now realise that I don't need 'things' in order to write. I suppose that's something time and life experience teaches us, or at least points out to us hoping we take the hint. It took me a while, but I got there.
This whole blog has been a learning curve, I started writing at a time when I was lost and confused about the future. Almost 5 years later I'm still confused about the future, but I still enjoy what I'm writing about. I'm sorry that you haven't been enjoying it along with me! Times are certainly changing again, 2015 will bring about lots of new beginnings for me and I hope it reflects positively in this space too.
All I can ever do is my best, sometimes it falls a little short, and sometimes I get things very wrong. But I'm always trying my best and I always will :)
Thank you for your reply, really respect that. X

DeleteI absolutely LOVE this, what an incredible idea! I don't know if I could bring myself to spend £40 on a poster but it's so beautiful... I may have to treat myself, or pop it on my Christmas list...
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to say, I really admire how you've responded to the comment above about not enjoying your blog anymore - it begs the question why still read, but personally I've really enjoyed seeing you grow and your blog develop alongside that, and your beautiful writing is what keeps me coming back. Your blog is one of my favourite reads <3
