When I was scrolling through my bloglovin' feed at the weekend and saw the 'Addicted to Blush' tag over on Sleep and Water I immediately knew that I was going to end up with a pretty long blush wishlist after reading it. And I did! She also very kindly tagged me and it really doesn't take much to set me off waffling about the prettiest make up product of all...
1. What colour blush suits you the most?
I think it depends on how my skin is looking, or how evenly my foundation applied on any given day. When my skin is pretty clear I love wearing rosy pink blushes and really going for that 'healthy glow' look, but when my skin isn't the best I find neutral shades much easier to wear and they don't draw attention to any unevenness.
2. Pressed, cream or loose blush?
Can I choose all three? I like them all for different reasons! Pressed blushes are always my go-to for easy application, I love the dewy finish of creams and although loose mineral blushes are a little more work, I find they're always so finely milled and glide over the cheeks pretty much blending themselves.
3. Favourite shimmery blush?
So Susan Universal Blush. It doesn't look like much in the pan but it's glowy without being glittery and the shade is bright enough to add a touch of colour, but muted enough to still look natural. It lasts really nicely throughout the day too.
4. Favourite matte blush?
Lily Lolo mineral blush in Ooh La La. My favourite thing about this blush is how smooth and velvety it feels; it never looks patchy, heavy or dry. The colour isn't unique or especially fancy, but it is a reliable mid-pink that looks quite intense in the pot but is easy to sheer out and apply lightly. Lily Lolo is a brand that I've been familiar with for 4 or 5 years now and I love that their prices haven't shot up hugely like so many other brands have.
5. Favourite cream blush?
Stila Convertible Colour in Gerbera. The formula of this range is perfect; lightweight, dewy but not sticky or oily and easy to blend with either a brush or fingertips. This colour in particular is beautiful. A peachy-pink that looks fresh and blends seamlessly on top of any foundation without looking patchy. Love it.
6. Favourite pharmacy/drugstore blush?
Okay, I'm cheating again and mentioning two. Turns out I'm a bit rubbish at making decisions. Firstly there's the beautiful Rimmel Santa Rose, an easy to wear neutral colour that goes with everything. And secondly there's the Collection Shimmer Shades blush in Blushalicious. Each of the four shades is big enough to use individually which makes it a really versatile little product.
7. Favourite high end blush?
When I was looking through my blush drawers there was only one real choice and it's my Dior Rosy Glow. It looks incredibly intense in the pan, but it really does give the most beautiful glow. There was a time when I reserved it for special occasions only, but recently I've started using it a lot more. What's the point in having beautiful things and not allowing myself to use them, right?
8. Favourite bright blush?
Illamasqua powder blush in Tweak. An intense hot pink with a hint of red, it's definitely a shade I have to be really careful with. A little too much and I end up looking like a clown and it's a bit of a nightmare to try and fix if it does look a little much. A real 'I've just come in from the cold' shade and when I manage to apply it well, I really like it. I'm not a huge fan of the formula though, I mean it's nice, but I don't think it's £21.50 nice.
9. Biggest blush disappointment/regret?
Illamasqua cream blush in Laid. I do really like the formula, it feels so lightweight on the skin and blends really easily, but this is one of those colours that I find quite difficult to wear. Knowing that I need to be really light handed and consider which lip shade I'm going to wear with it kind of puts me off reaching for it. It is a beautiful colour though, so maybe I should put a little more effort in and give it another chance. Perhaps I should try and make it my go-to spring cheek shade.
10. Best blush packaging?
I definitely have a soft spot for the Stila Convertible Colours. The colour of the outer packaging corresponds to the shade of the blush inside, it's sturdy & compact, there's a mirror inside and the floral details add that little extra something. Pretty and functional, the perfect combination.
11. What's on your blush wishlist?
One of the Hourglass Ambient Lighting blushes for sure. They're pretty pricey at £28 each, but I've read so many reviews and looked at so many swatches I'm definitely sure that I'd like to add one to my collection at some point. I haven't decided on a shade yet though!
12. Number One Blush?
It's got to be NARS Douceur. I believe it's been/is being discontinued, which I think is such a shame because it's a beautiful shade. It is a touch on the sheer side, but I think that contributes a lot to why I love it so much. It's the one colour I can reach for no matter what and it'll go with everything. It has been & will continue to be very well loved.
I tag... YOU!

I share your immense love for Stila, Illamasqua & NARS blushers. Such a shame they're getting rid of Douceur, it's perfection! If you're wanting to try the Hourglass ones I'd definitely recommend getting the palette. It's better value for money & all three shades are so pretty. Think I need to do this tag too ;) xx
ReplyDeleteOh gosh, don't tempt me haha! You're definitely right though, it is better value for money! xo
DeleteLovely post! I would really love an hourglass blusher too, I swatched them last week but I can't decide on a shade either!

They're all so beautiful! xo
DeleteYay I'm so glad you did this! :) I love Douceur too, can't believe NARS have discontinued it! Crazy! I'm a huge fan of Stila Gerbera as well - we both put it as our favourite cream blush hehe. Rimmel Santa Rose is a good one - I find they make really solid drugstore blushes in general. Hope you manage to get your hands on an Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush soon, I really like my Diffused Heat one though they are definitely pricey and you could probably find similar shades at a lower price point.
ReplyDeleteThank you for tagging me! Gerbera is so beautiful, it really can't be beaten I don't think. Oh absolutely, the gold packaging is calling to me though haha
DeleteYou have such a lovely blush collection! I really need to broaden my horizons when it comes to blusher, I only have one or two that I enjoy using. I would love to own a NARS blush one day!

Definitely do it, it's a fun one! xo
DeleteI have major blush envy after reading this post-- so many pretty choices! I've always been on the fence about buying the rosy glow because it does look so intense in the pan, but everyone who has it seems to really love it!
ReplyDeleteIt's so beautiful on the cheeks <3
DeleteBlush is something that I've never really gotten into, but reading this I just want to go out and buy all the blushes now aha!

Thank you! xo
DeleteOh, what a perfect timing for this pretty, pink, cheerful post. I just love your collection and I have to admit that Dior's Rosy Glow has been on my wish list for a very very long time. One day :-) I love MAC's powder blushes but one of my most revered possesion (which was really a present, I don't think I would have ever bought it for myself) is a Chantecaille blush within a silver pebble (I think you have to get this separately). It's expensive but so pretty, it has this warm glow without any glitter or sparkle, just lovely. Your images, as always, are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOhh it's so lovely having some special make up pieces I think <3
DeleteI really love the Stila Convertible Colours and Nars have some great shades :) I rarely buy or wear blusher, but now I feel like I need to add to my stash.

They blend so easily <3
DeleteThanks so much for doing this tag! I can't believe it has spread to UK bloggers :D
ReplyDeletekitschsnitch.blogspot.com.au/
Thank YOU for creating it! <3
DeleteYour cheek colour tends to be the first thing I notice in your photographs. I've always love the shades you use, from the sheer and somewhat nude, but I also think pink tones suit you so well.
ReplyDeleteI bought my first Stila Convertible Colour thanks to you.I bought Lilium, but I haven't used it yet though. I think it's one I'll try once it's a little warmer outside.
I hate how bulky Illamasqua products are. I've seen some gorgeous shades but they'd be a nightmare to carry around.
xxx
Thank you lovely! Illamasqua packaging is definitely on the chunky side, not very travel friendly! ox
