Lorali by Laura Dockrill* 3.5/5
A modern mermaid tale partly told from the perspective of the sea, this is a story that is packed full of very well dressed pirates, sirens, plenty of genuinely funny & at times eccentric adventure and intelligent, relevant comments on current media culture. A thoroughly marvellous example of young adult literature. Huge thank you to Hot Key Books for the proof copy.
Sunshine
It wouldn't be right to not mention the glorious weather! I'm a bit chubby for most of my summer clothes at the moment (working on it - still hitting the rowing machines!) so I bought a pair of fabulously jazzy trousers from nomad's clothing last week. Printed things aren't my usual style but they're so comfortable, like pyjamas that are acceptable to go outside in. Perfect.

Ice lollies
Still on the search for a bubblegum calippo, but lemonade ice lollies are my current jam.
Rediscovering some stories I wrote when I was young
There's a delightful story about a penguin named plop, and one about a rabbit that's actually more about a plane ride to India than the rabbit itself. I used to sit for hours making little books and drawing matching pictures. I'm not sure when or why I stopped, but I'm sad that I did because I'd love to have more to look back on.

DeleteI'm on vacation this week! The forecast said that it'd be rainy, but I've been pleasantly surprised by sunshine, so that's on my happy list this week as well :D / I used to write loads of ridiculous poems when I was little. They're absolute nonsense, but so much fun to read! I wish my creativity still ran so wild! -Audrey | Brunch at Audrey's
