A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara |
“You see, Jude, in life, sometimes nice things happen to good people. You don’t need to worry—they don’t happen as often as they should. But when they do, it’s up to the good people to just say ‘thank you,’ and move on, and maybe consider that the person who’s doing the nice thing gets a bang out of it as well, and really isn’t in the mood to hear all the reasons that the person for whom he’s done the nice thing doesn’t think he deserves it or isn’t worthy of it.”
A hundred pages in, and this might just be the most affecting book I've ever read. I've been told it will break my heart, and I think it might. But I hope that it might put it back together again too.

ReplyDeleteOh hey! I was reading The People in the Trees by Hanya Yanagihara before the school year ended and I had to return the book to the library. I've marked down which page I left off on Goodreads so that I could dive back into it once I'm back at school. I must admit that I didn't enjoy the book as much as I expected, but I still really want to check out A Little Life! These two books seem really different, plot-wise -Audrey | Brunch at Audrey's
