It's a beautiful Sunday. The sun is shining. I just had some avocado toast (I know, who do I even think I am? It's a step up from my usual bowl of loopy bees that's for sure!) and Antony & The Johnsons are playing in the background. There's no photographic evidence of aforementioned avocado toast because you'd better believe I snaffled that all up before I could even say avocado.
Beatrix has a thing for book spines and they definitely were not safe from those tiny teeth where they were. Losing the bottom shelves on my bookcases means there are now little piles of books everywhere. And I can't lie, I'm kind of loving it.
- Bookshelves make the best walls.
- To anyone who thinks they're falling behind.
- The High School English teacher who changed my life.
- The Skimm.
- Robert Frank, Valuing the Image over the Object.
- Sarah Kay on How We Measure Creative Success.
- The Voice, of all things, reminded me of a song I hadn't heard for years. I cried at the first word and it took my mind a moment to catch up and realise why.

Hehe thank you!
DeleteLast summer I really got into newsletters, but once the school year started, I just haven't been able to read them. Keeping up with podcasts is a lot more manageable for me. I really do appreciate this "newsletter" in blog format! When I have my own place, I'm definitely going to have a bookcase wall! -Audrey | Brunch at Audrey's

DeleteBeatrix is so adorable. I love naughty bunnies! Her colouring is seriously gorgeous. I've been having a lot of pet withdrawal symptoms recently so I'm jealous of your new animal friend. Thank you for all the lovely links too! I love the piece on when you feel like you're falling behind in life. This phrase particularly "You don't need more motivation or inspiration to create the life you want. You need less shame around the idea you're not doing your best." Productivity and business are so over valued, especially if you spend a lot fo time on the internet and social media. Like, does being that busy make you happy? I also LOVED the ted talk and interview with Sarah Kay - I haven't come across her before and her poetry is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteJessthetics xx
She definitely has a brilliant personality. I totally agree - I've been reading a lot of 'advice' lists recently and all they did was make me feel as though I wasn't doing enough of anything. And that may be the case, but if what I'm producing isn't making me happy then I would totally prefer to have some downtime instead. Sarah is brilliant, I'm so pleased to have been able to introduce you to her!
DeleteThough I love all your posts, I think this is the best one yet! and I'm intrigued by the book "Treats" so I might have to buy that soon too haha
ReplyDeletefranalibi.blogspot.co.uk
Aww thank you so much, that's so lovely to hear. And yes, I think Treats might be something you'd really enjoy, I've been hearing a lot of great things!
DeleteSo I've just seen that you included me here, thank you!!! xx
